Biography

The Radiators are a rock band from New Orleans, Louisiana. They were a quintet formed in 1978 and still retain all their original members.

The quintet successfully combined the traditional musical styles of their native city -- Cajun, Zydeco, and blues -- with classic rock and R&B influences to form a decidedly Southern, energetic variety of swamp-rock they call “fish-head music.”

4.0 out of 5 stars You gotta move your..., July 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Law of the Fish (Audio CD)
The Rads major label debut is still one of their high water marks. Some of their best songs and best grooves, with no duds or slow patches. If you like greasy, feel-good roots rock with a New Orleans twist, this here's your meat. Especially recommended for Little Feat fans, and although Lowell George still gets the nod over anyone in similar mercenary territory, the Rads are far, far better and more exciting than the post-Lowell feat. If you like this album (I'm a bit partial because this is the one that turned me on to the Rads long time ago) I recommend moving on to Total Evaporation, Live at the Great American, New Dark Ages, and Bucket of Fish, in approximately that order. If you're still jonesing, the other stuff available ain't too shabby either, and of course they've always been very generous with the live tapes so you can always cast out your line and do some live fishin'... But the point is this is the album to start with... Doctor, Doctor, Like Dreamers Do, and Suck the Head all got a good bit of radio play and certainly deserved it, and Holiday is a classic feel-good tune.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Effort, July 5, 1998
By A Customer

Since they were a bar band for many years, these songs were the ones they had been honing and playing. This is a great album, and in my opinion all other efforts have fallen way short. Almost every song is great.
