Editorial Reviews

Nothing will prepare Bobby Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Alex Eames (Kathryn Erbe) for their most challenging season yet. They are joined in their search for the smartest criminals with the darkest of minds by Det. Megan Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson) and Capt. Danny Ross (Eric Bogosian) in this fascinating crime drama from legendary producer Dick Wolf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome July 22, 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The introduction of Eric Bogosian to the show has made a world of difference. His brand of snarkiness is different from Eames' and it adds a wonderful touch to the show. He provides a new perspective to the show's plots and to the characters too.
Being a fan of Vincent d'Onofrio, I wish there were more episodes with Bobby, but I am pleased by the episodes that Nicholson and Noth do in this season. There is better chemistry between the two of them than with Sciorra.
I love this season because we get greater insight into Goren's troubled personal life and these personal scenes are poignant and disturbing at the same time cause he comes under so much pressure...'Endgame' was particularly very good.
I also like the way Eames and Goren handle each other...she is not in his shadow and he depends upon her as much as she needs his skill and expertise.
As for the plots, all I can say, is keep up the good work. I can't wait until Season 7 comes out on dvd. I don't care how much it costs..Vincent d'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe are the best!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved Season 6 March 28, 2012
By Ann
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've heard some people claim the show 'jumped the shark' by exploring the detectives' personal lives and becoming a little too (melo)dramatic with Goren's mother and the Robert Ford Brady storyline. I heartily disagree; this is what made the show more interesting for me and allowed Goren to shine in a completely different way. Really, there was nowhere else the show could have gone after five years; the writers and actors had to try something different. Sometimes I get frustrated with all L&Os because I want to know more about the characters. Dick Wolf is a tease!

Personally, S6 is my favorite of all seasons starting with the compelling episode 'Blind Spot', where Eames is kidnapped. Throughout the season, we finally really get to know Goren instead of getting the all too brief snippets and taunting little hints that the writers threw us on rare occasions in prior years. Eames is also fleshed out a little more (but still not enough). Vincent D'Onofrio really shines and delivers the emotions (and looks particularly sexy) in season six. There are some impressive guest stars who bounce off D'Onofrio so well including John Glover, Martha Plimpton, Liza Minelli, Tony Goldwyn, and Roy Scheider to name but a few.

I always thought Barek (played by the gorgeous Sciorra) was a little flat, so I was glad to see Logan with a new partner. Of the Noth episodes, the two best are 'Maltese Cross'. and 'Renewal' (Erbe is briefly in that one too). 'Renewal' features an outstanding performance by Noth (and guest star Kellie Williams). I used to skip the Logan episodes because I just wanted Goren and Eames, but it was a disservice to do that. These episodes certainly have a different tone, but I enjoy them in a different way. Logan is a great creation; I should have remembered that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this show September 9, 2011

I love to watch this show on DVDs. Watching Goren's mind at work is so interesting. I can see why it was to hard for Vincent D'Onofrio to keep doing it week after week.

5.0 out of 5 stars D'Onofrio/Erbe's Criminal Intent is Brilliant December 15, 2007
By M. Timm
I am getting caught up on seasons 5 and 6 this winter. I can't believe how astounding the performances are by Katherine Erbe and Vincent D'Onofrio. I am compelled and even uncomfortable at times watching, and I am seldom moved by television performances as I am by these actors.

I watch the Goren/Eames team episodes first (OF COURSE) and the Logan/[insert new partner here]episodes second. I am less affected by those episodes, but they are interesting none the less.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Season of CI August 18, 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Amazon.com is my favorite site for entertainment media. My choices are always available at the best prices anywhere. My latest purchase, Law and Order Criminal Intent Season 6, presents intense episodes with Goren and Eames and Logan and Wheeler. Some of the most intriguing stores of the series are contained in these DVDs. For all hardcore fans of the series and new fans alike, Season 6 provides hours of entertainment. Worth the wait for publication. Definitely does not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The War At Home" November 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase
Out of all the LOCI episodes I've watched, I have to say that The War At Home was my favorite, especially since they brought Michael Biehn on to play the Deputy Commissioner. He did a great job playing the stoic, keeping it close to the vest character. I hope that LOCI gives him a recurring role playing the Deputy Commissioner because he definitely did a great job! WTG, to the producers/directors/writers for casting Michael Biehn (big fan of his, BTW). I have been a fan of all of the Law and Order shows, but lately L&O:CI has become my favorite. D'Onofrio does a great job with his eccentricities and Erbe is a wonderful actress as well. She adds a combination of toughness with class and femininity to the show. Keep up the good work and bring Michael Biehn and Fran Drescher back in the roles that they did in "The War At Home".

Criminal Intent is by far the best of all the Law and Order shows on TV ....
Season 6 is no exception. Especially the Goran episodes are really good.

Many others have already covered all the in's and outs of this season, so this review concerns the quality, features and packaging of the Dvd's themselves.
This is the last year that Universal produced these before contracting out the last 4 seasons to Shout Factory. So the packaging and features are all still top notch.
Meaning that:
The discs still come one or two to a package, but not packed on top of each other,
the episode snynopses are still on the outside back of the disc packages
and most important for those of us who have hearing problems: the discs all have SUBTITLES, not Closed Captions.
Subtitles means you can still watch the discs in HD and still be able to read the dialogue!!
See below for what Closed Captioning vs Subtitles costs you.

Season 7 through 10 means Closed Captioning in order to see the dialogue, Which means you must hook up your equipment using the old analog style RCA (red, white, yellow) cables. This causes your picture to revert to Standard Definition (think Tube TV) picture quality. So you must trade off one for the other. Either watch in HD and see no dialogue, or see the dialogue while watching an inferior picture quality.

I too would would like to know when Season 6 onwards will be available for purchase - the release of the discs is SO slow as to be ridiculous.
