A Pretty Good Read,

As a retired NYPD sergeant I enjoyed some of the interplay between the cops. Dorothy Uhnak, a cop herself, got that part down all right. However, some of the plot turns in the second half of the book don't hang togther too well and feel forced. You could see the next development before it happened, and it lost a lot of suspense. The ending was OK. Hollywood made a made-for-TV movie out of it and butchered it pretty bad, despite an excelent performance by Darren McGavin. Overall, a pretty good read if you like cop stories. It's not a murder mystery, but a simple story about one family's 3 generations in the NYPD.

Law and Order Good Read,

I liked it a lot. It is the story of three generations on the NYPD. It did slow down a bit on some of the character backgrounds but then speeded up again. If Cop stories are your thing then I give it 4 stars. It would make a great movie.
