Editorial Reviews

Primetime Emmy® Award nominee Chris Meloni is Detective Elliot Stabler, and he stars with Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson – the role that earned her five Primetime Emmy® Award nominations and one win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The 22 powerful episodes in this five-disc set follow the dedicated officers as they work with New York City’s most heinous criminals, including abusive foster parents, neglectful doctors, vicious smugglers and sadistic kidnappers. Compelling guest stars include Primetime Emmy® Award winner Carol Burnett and Hilary Duff. The recipient of 18 Primetime Emmy® Awards, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is the gripping series that has critics proclaiming, “The acting is to be expected and congratulated” (Nina Gooden, Firefox News).

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - The Tenth Year coud've been a lot stronger if that chick from One Tree Hill was never cast as the new District Attorney, the writers came to their senses and got rid of her halfway through the season. Stephanie March returned as Alexandra Cabot, glad to see her back - she is such a natural! Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni continue to impress me, two of the best actors on t.v. Some of the episodes were over-the-top especially that illegal tiger meat episode, what was that?! This show has become kind of campy the last couple of seasons, that can start to annoy loyal fans who have been with the show since the beginning. Good season but ditch the lame jokes.

What can I say. This show is still good to watch after ten seasons. It is still one of the best shows on TV today and will continue to watch it. This is a good season for those fans of SVU. Loved the last episode. Go get this dvd if you are a fan, you won't be disappointed.

With well-defined characters, many whom I feel I actually know, the excitement is more gripping as I follow them through the perils of tracking, chasing, apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators of these "especially heinous crimes".
The season opener was one to 'take your breath away' with suspense. DON'T MISS IT!!

Love SVU, have all 10 seasons so far, I think that Novak should come back or else they should keep Cabot but really need to stop bringing in so many ADA's. Can't wait for season 11 to be out.

We are all familiar with the Law & Order SUV formula. It has been rigid from day one. We start with the sex crime being committed, then with the detectives working on it, to its being kicked over to the prosecutor for trial. This is often the show's strength but also its weakness. We know the formula so well that we're getting inured to it. I can consult my watch to see exactly where we should be in each show. I don't think there is much that can be done about this. Every show has a finite life span and the most any seem to eke out is ten or eleven seasons. And those are the very best shows ever! So I suspect that we are nearing the end with this series. I still enjoy the detectives and their cases and I think the actors do a fine job. I would not replace anyone who is on the show. However, week after week with the same formula cannot help but get a bit tedious after ten years, especially with so many fresh and new series coming to the fore which are less formulaic. I'm still watching but I'm also a little less enthusiastic each and every time I tune in. Probably this tenth series was every bit as good as the prior nine but its rigid formula over all that time is tiresome.

This may be the best SVU episode I've seen. Two intertwined plots weave a story that's amazingly complex for a 45 minute episode, with all the captivating writing, direction, acting, and heart that typically characterizes SVU. It gets down to the very human emotions typical of SVU topics and, as always, without compromising anything, while delivering the sense of justice that we almost always get to have with SVU... the justice we wish we could have in real life. Definitely one of the best, of not *the* best episode I've ever seen.

SVU has done it again. Is it possible to keep getting better and better? For these folks it is!! Do you want to cry? Do you want your heart to be broken? Do you want your guts to be ripped out? Do you want that WTF moment? Than this is the season for you. Carol Burnett in a role, that is quite good. A member of the original 90210 cast in a role that will surprise you. And a surprise in the last few minutes of the last episode. But enough spoilers. If you're interested by the DVD.

As with each year's series of programs, this set is awesome. It is a great gift idea for those individuals who enjoy watching programs at their own pace.
