Book Description

Can a woman who has been betrayed in the worst way by an ex-spouse learn to trust again? Will she open her heart to a man who seems to be too good to be true, meeting every requirement she has ever wanted or needed in a partner? Alayna would. But it will take time. Time is the one thing Khayden, Master Lawke, doesn’t have. His enemies are bent on destroying his people and harming Earth in the process. The only way to save both is for his Kee, Alayna, to unlock him, freeing his powers and unbeknownst to her, her own. But first she has to believe that there’s more to her current lover than she sees. It will take a leap of faith to accept his pursuit and engage her battered heart again. The attacks are speeding up, with an alarming amount of casualties. Despite the fierce attraction, Alayna isn’t sure she’s strong enough to lay bare her heart again, so soon. Khayden is betting his life that she is strong enough to do that and to handle his flame.
Excerpt:

“Lawkharven.”
“Lockhaven?”
“No, you say it as you say the word law. Lawkharven.” He enunciated again.
“Oh, okay. Got it. What’s your name?” She stood in the middle of the road, rambling. Which made her wonder which of them had the problem?
“I am called Lorenzo. And you are?” He smiled at her and she froze. The man was drop dead gorgeous in a boyish-man kind of way. His eyes sparkled. His teeth gleamed, making her think he’d had some serious dental work. He’d put most of the male models on the covers of magazines to shame. Lorenzo would be a wet dream for a few of her friends, both male and female.
“Alayna. Call me Alayna.” She broke their connection by glancing around, not wanting him to get the wrong impression. He was good-looking, but she wasn’t interested. Having a cheating ex-husband break your heart did that to a woman. “Where can I grab a bite to eat?”
He touched her shoulder, and she whirled on him. “Don’t touch me.”
He back up a few steps, his eyes wide. “I am most sorry. Forgive me.” Between sounding pitiful and his face losing its glow from a moment before, she felt like the biggest jerk.
Tempering her voice and hoping the smile on her face appeared sincere, she backtracked. “No, it’s okay, you just surprised me.” And I don’t like people I don’t know touching me; bad memories - don’t go there. “Which way to eat?”
The moment the question left her mouth, the sweetest aromas split the air. She inhaled and felt as though she would levitate following after the smells. “I want some of that.” She glanced at him. “Come on, Lorenzo. Let’s eat.” At the back of her mind, a warning blared at the coincidence of the smells and her comments, but she was so hungry, she pushed it aside to examine later.
He waved her forward, remaining a cautious distance. They turned a corner and Alayna stopped so abruptly, Lorenzo bumped into her.
“I am sorry. I did not realize you had stopped.” He tripped over himself trying to apologize.
She waved him down and pointed at the large building in the middle of the block. “Is that a Woolworth over there?” Her head whipped from him to the building, back to him again. “I’ve seen pictures of my grandmother working in that place. But I thought they were extinct.” She shook her head, trying to get the words right. “I mean, they went out of business. How can one be here? In the middle of the forest? I mean town. Oh, hell. Now I’m sounding batty.”
He waved her forward. “It is where you shall eat.”
As she crossed the street, her eyes widened at the other stores. There was an Eagle Army Navy, a Jordan Marsh department store, and one with a weirder name, Zayre. “What are those?” she asked, pointing to the buildings.
“They are places we replenish our supplies, a store.” He looked at her with a glimmer of doubt in his eyes, as though she were the slow one.
“I know they’re stores. I can see that. What I mean is…” She paused, trying to figure exactly what she wanted to know. “Is this where stores come after they die?” she whispered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!!!! March 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was an amazing novel and if you haven't read Ms. Knowles before this is a great place to start before getting all of her other novels. Khayden and Alayna's story was told with amazing detail and the "lawke" finding his "kee" is a great analogy for the love they find with and in each other. You will absolutely love this story and you will definitely fall in love the all of the characters. This is another must buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ! March 1, 2012
By JJ
Format:Kindle Edition
Knowles does it again fantastic characters, I enjoyed this story immensely. Lawke are a race of supernatural's from another planet that resides on earth in search of their Kee. The Lawkes are plagued by evil beings bent on destroying the race in order to take over there planet and gain the unique powers of the Lawke. Finding and protecting the Kee is the most important factor as they are very valuable to the Lawke race. As the Kee is the other half of the Lawke. They are also the only ones that can unleash the Lawkes greatest powers and are the creators of life. Again without going too much into the book this is definitely a must read. I can't wait for the sequel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Paranormal with a unique concept April 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked elements of this story. It is my first paranormal by Erosa and I can tell she put in a lot of work creating this fictional world. I like Kahyden's character, he is really a strong, level headed leader who is turn inside out when he meets Alayna; his Kee. Alayna was a decent heroine. I didn't like how she was strong and running things one moment and falling apart the next, in some ways she was a weak link. I would also have liked to see more of her mother mentioned since everyone gave up so much to save the woman. At one point I wanted to Kahyden to tell Alayna to stop being a brat! I really enjoyed Lorenzo and Benicke's coming together and wished there had been at least one full on romance scene with the two of them. The sex between Kayden and Alayna was very hot but at a certain point I thought there was just too much of it. I am looking forward to the next installment. I will purchase it but I would love to have another series or stand alone book like 3X.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lawked 3/4 thru this book January 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was so confused by the aliens and their small town that I got lost in the "action" sequences. I was so fed up that stopped reading this book altogether; the last straw for me? There was a sequence involving the heroine's mother became ill; too much time was spent on the sequence and the character explaining to her lover that her mother was white with a fierce mothering instinct; as if race plays a part in that. For me this stalled the story; as did the side plotlines that did nothing to move the main story along.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lawke and Kee Tale Must Read and A KEEPER!! May 10, 2012
By Starr R
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
For every Lawke there is a Kee and for every Kee there is a Lawke. I plan on and have already read this book several times, you will never see me putting this one out for sale.

This is an amazing tale, if you haven't read Erosa Knowles before this is a great place to start. Khayden and Alayna's story was told with amazing detail and the "Lawke" finding his "Kee" is a great analogy for the love they find with and in each other. You will absolutely love this story and you will definitely fall in love the all of the characters.

Finding and protecting the Kee is the most important factor as they are very valuable to the Lawke race. As the Kee is the other half of the Lawke a step further than a soul mate, more like a life mate. They are also the only ones that can unleash the Lawkes greatest power. The story of how they come together is great and interesting and has many twists and turns. The many sex scenes between Kayden and Alayna was very hot, had a few menopausal moments of hot flashes :-) and explains how that served a purpose for the bonding between Lawkes and Kees.

I liked this story immensely, it is such a great paranormal concept and I can tell Erosa put in a lot of work creating this fictional world. I like Kahyden's character, he is a strong, level headed and fair leader who is turned inside out when he meets Alayna, his Kee. Alayna was a great heroine as well, who being human with human failings, had been very hurt by her ex, which to some may seem weak, but it takes great inner strength to overcome some things. Also, keeping in mind all of this happened over a month's time. That, to me takes quite a lot of strength of character to overcome many years of hurt in that short time span.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still A Fan February 5, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I like Erosa Knowles writing. She really knows how to convey a truly passionate and romantic story. That's why I did not give up on this tale. For me, the start of this story was kind of hard to get into, a little too sci-fi'ish for me. I skimmed over the first forty pages or so until I could get into the book. I'm glad that I didn't give up. I loved the romance between Khayden and Alayna. I have read other romances about shifters but never one about an alien. This alien really knew how to work her body and was just as possessive and insatiable as a human male. Khayden's humanity was what truly made him sexy. Alayna's character irritated me at times though. Sometimes she was strong and independent, others she was a weak mess. I hate stories when the heroine acts too strong, causing conflict. I just wanted her to trust and follow Khayden's lead. I liked the sub-characters in this book as well. Alayna befriended another alien named Lorenzo. She helped him to discover that he is gay. There is a portion in the book when Lorenzo's "Lawke" discovers that Lorenzo is his "Kee", and an unlocking has to take place. I was sooo dreading reading the next few paragraphs. I'm glad that Lorenzo found love because he is such a likeable character, but I didn't want to read graphic details about too men getting it on. Thankfully those details were not in this book. All in all this was an exciting read, and I'm still a huge fan of Erosa Knowles!!!

More About the Author

I love the written word. There's very few things I'd rather do than read a fascinating tale, or tell one. I did say few.

I also believe love is color blind. Most of my stories reflect that belief.

Everywhere I go I see something that titillates me and gets me wondering if I can use it as material.

Romance makes the world go around. I cannot imagine life without it. As a writer, I endeavor to bring some happiness to both my characters and my readers.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my stories.

Erosa
