5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER FABULOUS ST JOHN NOVEL !!!!!!!!, March 3, 2007

If you have not read any of St John's books to date - YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!!! Big time!! These are westerns. I know there are a lot of you out there that don't care for the Americana romance novels and Westerns at that - but I am serious - if you want to get an author that NEVER disappoints and that all her stories are fresh and marvelous - look no further. You will be pleasantly surprised at the depth of emotion and beauty that this author evokes in her novels. All her books are tender and so BEAUTIFUL - they tug your heart strings and even for the skeptical, hard at heart I am sure her books will bring a tear to your eye or two - no kiddin'!

I like my heroines full of spunk and feminine - not sappy. My heroes, men that are bigger than life and are tough as nails but still are softies at heart. Well, all of St. John's characters explode with vitality, humor and unparallel tenderness and most have suffered misfortunes in their lives and they have given up hope. They live and try to find better a better side to their lives - but their daily survival has the stigma of their past. St. John's stories are all about hope, new beginnings, redemption and the power of love - that heals every heart.

Her love stories are depicted beautifully and "The Lawman's Bride" is no exception. I will not go into the plot - as it is has been described by previous reviewers, all I have to say is that you will not be disappointed in this book or any of her other stories - they are pure bliss to any reader. Thank you, Ms. St. John for your lovely, tender and heartwarming stories that makes us all believe that there is redemption for the most callous at heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is #2 of what I call "The Harvey Girls" -, October 17, 2008
By

This review is from: The Lawman's Bride (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
Of the "Harvey Girls" this is the story of Sophie Hollis - a young girl bought off the Indians - her name, "Ogaleesha" - later changed to Gabriella by Tek Garrett, a con man.

Sophie is on the run and just wanting to enjoy the freedom of making her own choices. Yet she knew Tek wouldn't stop looking for her.

Clay Connor, the town Marshal was taken with the mystery of the Harvey girl, Sophie. She figured it would be safer to keep close to Clay even though more dangerous.

Sophie worked at Fred Harvey's Arcade Hotel & restaurant by the train station under a Mrs. Winters and with the other girls - Emma Spearman, Amanda Pettyjohn, Olivia Larson and Rosie MacPhee.

The entanglement of all of these lives make for a most fascinating story of love and redemption.
We also meet Marshal Hershel Vidlak and Tubs McElroy, the bartender.

But most wonderful of all is to catch up on the lives of Dr. Caleb Chaney and his "Harvey Girl" wife Ellie - their now 7 month old son, David and Ellie's brothers that Caleb adopted, Benjamin, 17 and Flynn, 11 -- Caleb has a son Nate that Ellie was hired for in #1 THE DOCTOR'S WIFE - seems like there are two more boys involved. Great Family.

Amanda falls for Mr. Morgan and causes Sophie trouble as Sophie wants to save Amanda from the devil himself.

Excellent story - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - thoroughly enjoyable.

I have only recently discovered this writer and must say that I absolutely love her. This is a wonderful book rich in emotional depth and personal growth. Anyone tired of reading detailed discriptions of certain body parts and wanting to read a true romance should read this book. You will not be disappointed.
