More About the Author
These things are usually written in what I have called the "royal she/he." That is, the writer is asked to write their own biographical note but to do it as if someone else wrote it. That way they can brag about themselves without appearing to violate what their parents warned them against, "tooting your own horn." That led me to decide not to do that anymore.
So, Del Cain is my real name, at least it's what I've been called since seventh grade, "Del" being short for "Delmer." I live in Texas with the greatest wife in the world, Isabel, and the weirdest dog, Spike.
I've had a couple of nonfiction books published about old west lawmen, Lawmen of the Old West: The Good Guys and Lawmen of the Old West: The Bad Guys. My stories and poems have appeared in various journals and anthologies.
I am a long time member of DFW Writers Workshop and in 2010 was honored by being made a "life member" That means, after seventeen years, I don't have to pay the dues anymore. We do a major conference every year that might interest you. You can find information on each at www.dfwwritersworkshop.org and www.dfwwritersconference.org
I'm a long time participant and current Advisory Board member of the Austin International Poetry Festival in Austin, Texas. You would be welcome at the festival in April each year. Check it out at www.aipf.org.
I try every year to grow some of my own groceries because those cardboard tomatoes from the grocery store are awful. Mostly that just feeds the bugs and birds but it gets me out from behind this computer once in a while. I like rain, reading, holding hands, horses, guitars, good music, dark beer, dark chocolate, dark nights, and would, almost certainly, like you.
