5.0 out of 5 stars Good Start
Purchased from Amazon albeit wary of condition of box on arrival. Mower arrived in 2 or 3 days using Super Saver shipping. Box a little beat up but mower perfect inside. Had lots of cardboard 'padding'.

Mower came mostly assembled. Had to unfold handle and secure. Added oil and gasoline, pushed the choke button 3 times and it started the first time...

3.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Designed for Rear Bagging
Shipped fast, just unpacked & assembled the 10367. Packaging was damaged but only a few scratches on plastic bagging chute (acceptable to me). Deck and engine build quality look great. HOWEVER, I tried to install rear bag, since I don't plan to mulch, and realized that the bag sits right below the recoil start rope (look carefully at larger image). Bag must be lifted...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lawn Boy 6.5 HP Self-Propelled Walk Power Mower with Bag 10367 (Lawn & Patio)

Added oil and gasoline, pushed the choke button 3 times and it started the first time. Mowed entire lawn without stopping.

Mower is much lighter than my previous Honda and more manueverable. Self propelled feature works well. Couldn't imagine just having one speed like many of the MTD machines. Also was wary of front wheel drive. This has rear wheel drive and works well on hills.

Have used the mulching attachment that came on the mower so far and grass looks great. Bag seems ok but havent tried it yet.

Finally, hand controls on my Honda were probably safe but very hard to use. My teenage son had great difficulty using it and steering at the same time. This mower has one 'dead man's' lever that you hold down to start and mow. OTherwise, you push/lean on the main handle and it goes at your pace. My only regret is that the pull cord is on the right side while I am left handed. Very difficult for me but only happens once or twice a mowing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Owner of Used Lawn Boys finally buys a new one!!!!, September 4, 2005
This review is from: Lawn Boy 6.5 HP Self-Propelled Walk Power Mower with Bag 10367 (Lawn & Patio)
I have been living in my home for 30 years. I have a terraced lawn, and have heretofore only bought used Lawn Boy Mowers of the push type with aluminum decks. My last one finally bit the bullet in late July 05 and I needed to get a mower. Went online, searched Yahoo and came up with the above Lawn Boy. Price seemed good and with tax and shipping it came to $342.00. Unit shipped promptly and was delivered one day earlier thatn promised, GOOD!!!. Fed-Ex guy nearly has a stroke getting it into my backyard... Mower turns out to be a 2004 model year brand new mower for a great price!!!! Unpacks great and went together simply and quickly... Started right up after putting oil in the crank case, and fuel in the tank!!! It is the first self-propelled mower I have owned feature works great!!! Its a rear bagger and I found the Lawn Boy rear bagging system to be somewhat problematic..I prefer the side bagging setup anyway and I found one in a city close to where I live for $35.00. Changed it to side bag and Voila superb.. I love it... All around good experience purchasing a Lawn Mower on the INTERNET???!!!???

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY a mower not made by MTD, June 2, 2005
This review is from: Lawn Boy 6.5 HP Self-Propelled Walk Power Mower with Bag 10367 (Lawn & Patio)
I recently purchased one of these "staggered" wheel design mowers from a local dealer, although it is not the self propelled model. The mower does a great job with mulching or bagging. I usual just use the mulching feature, which chops the grass up well enough so that it can not be seen. This is due to the powerful engine and the great design. It doesn't really matter to me what brand the engine is. A Tecumseh will last just as long as a Honda or B&S and vice versa, as long as regular maintenance is kept up to date. The 10367 self-propelled mower is the best value for the money. Just check your local Wal-Mart or Sears store and compare prices. Oh! just one more thing. The Lawn-Boy self-propelled mowers,on average, are about 25 pounds lighter than the ones that are at your local store. This is probably due to less moving parts (better designed) which means less chance of something breaking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mower-great value, July 5, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Lawn Boy 6.5 HP Self-Propelled Walk Power Mower with Bag 10367 (Lawn & Patio)
The best purchase I have ever made value-wise. This mower delivers the best cut I have ever gotten from a walk-mower and I have owned the best brands available.

Keep in mind, the product description is not accurate-the mower deck is steel, not aluminum.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Designed for Rear Bagging, November 10, 2005

Shipped fast, just unpacked & assembled the 10367. Packaging was damaged but only a few scratches on plastic bagging chute (acceptable to me). Deck and engine build quality look great. HOWEVER, I tried to install rear bag, since I don't plan to mulch, and realized that the bag sits right below the recoil start rope (look carefully at larger image). Bag must be lifted up to remove from flange on chute and rear bag hanger but will run into starter rope every time bag is removed or reinstalled. I don't see any way to reroute the starter rope to avoid this problem. It seems this mower was intended for mulching or side chute and the rear bag was an afterthought. Also, chute was very difficult to install "keyhole" slots correctly over stationary bolts - supposed to make it easier to change without tools but inacurate fit requires a lot of elbow grease.

I will update my rating once I have a chance to see how it runs - especially bag vs mulch performance.

UPDATE I've used the mower for several months now and have found the rear bag hitting the starter rope to be a nuisance but tolerable once you get used to it. A bigger dissapointment is that the rear chute assembly (needed for bagging) is loose (designed with support rod that sits in a hole) and flaps up when removing bag so you have to reinsert the support into hole every time bag is removed. The mower runs great - starts on first pull every time, the engine has power to spare and it cuts great. I would highly recommend if mulching but for bagging I can only give 3 stars because of mediocre rear chute design and bag/starter cord placement design.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keith Wolf - St. Louis, September 3, 2005
By
This review is from: Lawn Boy 6.5 HP Self-Propelled Walk Power Mower with Bag 10367 (Lawn & Patio)
Received my new lawn mower on third day following a late afternoon order so I was quite pleased at the speed of delivery but found the cost of said delivery to be kind of high.

Was concerned about handling during delivery as a couple of other customer reviews addressed this concern and when I saw the box I checked the routing thinking it may have somehow been involved in Hurricane Katrina, it was banged up pretty bad. Even with the box showing the effects of rough handling the lawn mower inside would have easily survived the journey undamaged if it were packaged better by the manufacturer. The unit basically just sits on the bottom of the box with no styrofoam padding whatsoever and very little support from cardboard "sleeves" which are supposed to help hold in place. The right front wheel had punched through the cardboard and was pushed back in by someone and some clear package tape was used to cover the hole.

With the lawn mower being so poorly packaged it received numerous scratches, was missing one of the bolts for the handle bar, (I was able to take one off my old Lawn Boy) and the housing was bent in to the point that the blade hit the housing during operation. Had to, as did one of the other customers, beat the housing back out with a hammer, to which my neighbor teased me by saying, "it's brand new and you're already beating on it?"

Getting to the business of rating this model, I like it, it's a great machine and runs very well, is quiet, and the self propelled feature works very smoothly. It's lighter then my previous Lawn Boy which surprised me beings this is a 4-stroke vs my other being a 2-stroke. Seems to have plenty of power but I haven't figured out yet if it was two throttle postitions or just one (I'm a NASCAR fan so if I find out that this thing has some kind of restrictor plate I'm going to take it off!). Also, I would prefer an oil drain plug on the bottom of the engine vs tipping the mower on its side and draining through the filler tube.

All things being said and done I wish I could have found this model locally instead of having one shipped. I know it's only a lawn mower and maybe I shouldn't care so much about the scratches but I don't think anyone would have taken this unit out of a store without asking for some kind of discount, especially if they had seen the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lawnboy #10367 exceeds expectations!, August 27, 2005
This review is from: Lawn Boy 6.5 HP Self-Propelled Walk Power Mower with Bag 10367 (Lawn & Patio)
I have owned several Lawnboy mowers over the years but none to compare with the #10367. The variable speed drive is a fine addition. Now the mower moves at the exact speed that I want to walk by merely pushing on the handlebar. The staggered wheels, Lawnboy's hallmark, are indispensible for rough terrain and close trimming. I am sorry to see Toro (Lawnboy owner), discontinue the staggered wheels in their latest models.

Outstanding mower! I used to cut any where from 9 to 13 yards a week and lawn boy mowers held up. As a result, when I moved into my house a year ago I needed a mower. Though it had been years, the lawn boy mower still didn't disappoint me. This self propelled mower will go as fast as you can walk and still give an even cut. It's been a year and most of the time the lawn mower will start with a single pull.

I know some complained about the bag but I haven't experienced any problems here. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.
