More About the Author
She was first published in 2002 in a book project spear headed by Joni Cole and others titled, "This Day, Diaries of American Women," in which women from all walks of life across America journaled their entire day. After seeing her day diary in print, she was bitten by the writing bug and began keeping detailed journals of her travels and encounters with both friends and strangers. From these journals eventually she began blogging and titled it Crossing Paths.(www.thepathswecross.blogspot.com)
Flying home from a family reunion in 2009 she read an article that discussed how self-publishing had become so popular that she got out her pencils and began drafting the outline to her story. Staying true to her outline, she self-published her first novel, "In Laws and Play Cousins" in May of 2010.
In 2011 she was named one of the Top Ten Best New Authors of 2011 by the National Black Book Fair, and also in 2011 her short story, "Dishonorable Thieves" won an Honorable Mention from the distinguished Palm Springs Writers Guild during their annual short story contest.
The Sequel to 'In-Laws and Play Cousins' is titled 'Three Sides to Every Story,' and was released in 2012. In July of 2013 she released a spinoff of a minor character from 'In-Laws and Play Cousins.' Her third novel, "Masumi Records" is a coming-of-age story of Jason Masumi, a young musician who is torn between his love of beautiful women and creating the perfect song.
She has several upcoming projects on the burner, including ghostwriting a biography, a screenplay and the pre-quel to In-Laws and Play Cousins. "The Park Family" is a story about the parents of her main characters from her first novel. Her love of history will be integrated throughout this fourth novel, as the setting will incorporate the height of the civil rights movement from the 50s and 60s.

I ordered this because of the price and thought it would be an okay read, but what I got in return for my money was a really great read. It was interesting to follow the ladies lives from childhood to adulthood and see how their lives had intertwined along the way.
Fate has a way of correcting itself and theses ladies are living proof that everything is not exactly what it seems to be.
The characters were all very well developed. I will admit that initially it was tough to follow along as the characters were being developed and each chapter switched to a different person. There are 4 main characters but the remaining 5+ supporting characters were also well developed so I had to remember by titling them "dumb naive girl, nasty ho, witch, perverted old man, etc. After a while I was able to associate their names respectively.
I've recommended this book to so many friends already for 0.99 cents this is a great deal. Even it was $15.00 I would be happy with my purchase as the story left me with my mouth hanging wide open in disbelief. What a great story, I can't wait for the sequel.

Nice easy read, at some points there were just too many characters to keep up with. The good thing is I never saw the almost ending event coming.Published 6 months ago by Billie Davis
