More About the Author

A Multicultural Romance Novelist, Robyn Gant grew up in Southern California and studied at Grambling State University and California Southern School of Law. She has worked for a number of years in the Human Resources industry and discovered early that her strengths in this field focused on conflict resolution, mediation and performance management. In an effort to incorporate humor while trying to resolve disputes, she found herself telling humorous stories to employees and managers in an effort to release the tension in the room, and thus began the beginning of her tall tales.

She was first published in 2002 in a book project spear headed by Joni Cole and others titled, "This Day, Diaries of American Women," in which women from all walks of life across America journaled their entire day. After seeing her day diary in print, she was bitten by the writing bug and began keeping detailed journals of her travels and encounters with both friends and strangers. From these journals eventually she began blogging and titled it Crossing Paths.(www.thepathswecross.blogspot.com)

Flying home from a family reunion in 2009 she read an article that discussed how self-publishing had become so popular that she got out her pencils and began drafting the outline to her story. Staying true to her outline, she self-published her first novel, "In Laws and Play Cousins" in May of 2010.

In 2011 she was named one of the Top Ten Best New Authors of 2011 by the National Black Book Fair, and also in 2011 her short story, "Dishonorable Thieves" won an Honorable Mention from the distinguished Palm Springs Writers Guild during their annual short story contest.

The Sequel to 'In-Laws and Play Cousins' is titled 'Three Sides to Every Story,' and was released in 2012. In July of 2013 she released a spinoff of a minor character from 'In-Laws and Play Cousins.' Her third novel, "Masumi Records" is a coming-of-age story of Jason Masumi, a young musician who is torn between his love of beautiful women and creating the perfect song.

She has several upcoming projects on the burner, including ghostwriting a biography, a screenplay and the pre-quel to In-Laws and Play Cousins. "The Park Family" is a story about the parents of her main characters from her first novel. Her love of history will be integrated throughout this fourth novel, as the setting will incorporate the height of the civil rights movement from the 50s and 60s.

Stay Tuned!

This book will keep you turning pages to get to the next....For $.99 you can not beat that...It's one of the best book I've read in a long time. All the characters are so believable and real...The ending was shocking...I can't wait for the sequel....Big ups to Robyn...You did your thing...Keep doing it and doing it and do it well...

This was a interesting read, every time you thought that you had it figured out it changed paces.

I ordered this because of the price and thought it would be an okay read, but what I got in return for my money was a really great read. It was interesting to follow the ladies lives from childhood to adulthood and see how their lives had intertwined along the way.

Fate has a way of correcting itself and theses ladies are living proof that everything is not exactly what it seems to be.

WOW!! This book was great. Exciting, captivating with twists and turns that keep you reading. This is a great example of one of your mother's lessons... Don't judge a book by its cover. You will be very surprised, just like I was. Highly Recommended and at this price you can't go wrong!!

So many twists and turns. I thought it would be the typical book I could predict boy was I wrong. The ending......WOW! Never saw that coming. I found my self unable to put the book down. Robyn Gant, this a job well done. The writing was fantastic although there were a few errors or times were I had to re-read a section more so because I was so anxious to get on with the story ;)
The characters were all very well developed. I will admit that initially it was tough to follow along as the characters were being developed and each chapter switched to a different person. There are 4 main characters but the remaining 5+ supporting characters were also well developed so I had to remember by titling them "dumb naive girl, nasty ho, witch, perverted old man, etc. After a while I was able to associate their names respectively.
I've recommended this book to so many friends already for 0.99 cents this is a great deal. Even it was $15.00 I would be happy with my purchase as the story left me with my mouth hanging wide open in disbelief. What a great story, I can't wait for the sequel.

This book was a all nighter I could not put it down. It had everything I wanted sex, drama, lies and the plot was great. Also I liked it because all the black woman in the book were professional woman with great paying jobs, instead of whores and sluts that black woman are perceived in other urban novels. Very great job I would read it again.....

This was one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading. Most books feel rushed, but Ms. Gant took her time and developed the story. I kept thinking it would come to an abrupt halt, but the pages kept coming. AND I LOVED IT. I can't wait to read the next book. I refused to read the portions that she has given us at the end of this one, because I don't want to ruin what she has in store. For $.99 this is an extraordinary find. Don't give this book two thoughts about whether to purchase it, because you would have wasted one of them. Happy reading. No synopsis from me because I hate to have people spoil a book for me.

This was actually a good read. I read it in two days and couldn't stop til it was at the end. I say Eva was off the chain with her being a whore. Tracie was just crazy and obsessed with the wrong damn things. Tina ...well she didn't do too much crazy. And Nubia...she was naiive, but Kevin, Pilar and Denene was a mess. And that ending...I did NOT see that coming! Please do a part 2! I am dying to see what happens to Pilar...she was not as naiive and innocent as i believed...
