4.0 out of 5 stars English Invasion, again.
Come May when this film is released in the US, this soundtrack will find it's fans, but why wait? Like Lock, Stock, Trainspotting, and films of the like, this music serves double duty as good collection of tracks and a good music piller in the film, enjoy.

2.0 out of 5 stars I wish this was listed on Itunes
There were only three songs that were notable. Very disappointing. Did not need to buy an entire CD for three songs.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth it, August 11, 2005
This review is from: Layer Cake/O.S.T. (Audio CD)
If you've watched Layer Cake, you know that while some of these songs may seem a bit random for a british gangster film, each piece has its own to contribute to the movie as a whole. simply put, the music was killer. everything about the movie is highly stylized and just exudes "cool" which is where the music comes into play. The alternative amped with electronic beats makes scenes like Daniel Craig simply walking down the street sexy as hell. Definitely worth a listen to.

This movie was amazing and the music to go along with it was also excellent! Too bad the rolling stones didn't get on there but it's a fantastic album! Fer sure! Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars good sampler, July 13, 2006
This review is from: Layer Cake/O.S.T. (Audio CD)
If you saw the movie, you would like the album. I would suggest a different order for the tracks, but it is fairly reasonable as it is... Also, if you see the movie in detail, you would spect to get more tracks in this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Lisa Gerrard, October 10, 2005

Excellent original soundtrack for a great movie. Musics composed by Lisa Gerrard are fantastic. (specially the Aria)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie Soundtrack, March 15, 2007

If you've seen the show Inside the Actor's Studio, you will know the question at the end that asks "What profession would you not want to do?" I always thought I would answer that question with, "A Music Critic." To me, music has groove or it doesn't. That's it. Whether Rock, Hip Hop, Funk, Blues, Reggae, Latin, Jazz, or Pop, if it's got groove, it's good. I don't know how critics can write a thousand words about a new C.D. With that said, this Soundtrack is loaded with groove. Point being, it's Good! From The Source, to The Cult, to a remix of Kylie Minogue's super tune with New Order mixed in, this C.D. will "keep ya head ringin'."

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sound track!, September 29, 2010

Layer Cake is, IMO, the best sleeper gangster flick you've never heard of. That being said this soundtrack is no let down. Granted I only bought it for the song where the protagonist meets the pretty blond at the club. But, it delivered what I wanted! I wouldbe given 5 stars but I didn't really like any of the other songs.

4.0 out of 5 stars CD doesn't disappoint the movie viewer, February 14, 2009
This review is from: Layer Cake/O.S.T. (Audio CD)
Cd definitely includes all the best songs from the movie and gives a better mix of a couple of songs (dance club ones). Tracks are in the order they are heard in the movie. No bonuses that I can think of.

I ordered this CD for the Lisa Gerrard song but was blown away by the rest of the songs, especially Hayling. I can't help replaying it over and again. I was very, very pleased with the CD. I do wish there was a version of Lisa Gerrard's song without the speaking part at the beginning but it is short and the song is worth it.

I bought this cd before I saw the film and liked it alot. With groups like Duran Duran,The Cult,Joe Cocker and others you can't go wrong. The movie was very good and so is this.If you like the cd see the movie it makes all worth the while.Although a few tunes are hypnotic that will change once the movie is watched.Give me another helping please and next time add the Stone's Gimmie Shelter to it
