4.0 out of 5 stars Good entertainment
This game was challenging, but not too bad...there are no 'skips' for the mini-games, which made it fun..it had a good storyline and lasted longer than others I have played..overall..great game!

I downloaded this game on a whim, seeing that it was a downloadable adventure game that looked quite fun. I wasn't entirely disappointed with it, although I definitely think that several things could have been improved to make it better.

Story - You control Bridget Brightstone, an NYPD detective on vacation who gets a call from her boss asking her to check out a mysterious case that has taken place in a castle not far from where she is vacationing. She agrees to go and finds out that the case involves a woman having her necklace stolen the day before she elapses into a strange coma. That is the main story at the beginning of the game, but there are so many plot twists in the game that the story is constantly changing, and it can be a little hard to keep up. It even turns into fantasy/sci fi style story as the game progresses, and when you get to that part, the plot gets really cheesy. Yet, I have to admit, although the plot got quite cheesy at one point, the story was still relatively enjoyable if you could keep up with it.

Graphics - First of all, the cutscenes in the game are just OK. They tend to be fuzzy and a tad distorted, however, the character movement in them is NOT blocky at all; it's actually rather smooth. The regular scenes when you are controlling Bridget are pretty and nicely done, although, they could have been a bit better.

Sound - There is no voice acting in the game with the exception of the cutscenes in which the little voice acting that is provided is good. The rest of the time, while talking to characters, you just simply have a dialog box that you have to read instead of listen to. In addition to lack of voice acting, the music isn't very exciting to listen to, although, it isn't horrible.

Gameplay - This is a 3rd person adventure game in which you go around solving puzzles and looking for clues just like pretty much any other adventure game. It is usually obvious what to do next, and the puzzles tend to be on the easy side, making this a good game for adventure game beginners. However, there will still be a few challenges for more advance adventure gamers, but if you have experience in this style of gaming, it might be a bit too easy for you. There is an in-game hint system that highlights all the places you can go, all the things you can pick up, and all the things that you can look at in a particular area. It does not help with solving puzzles, though, but with the exception of maybe one puzzle, you shouldn't need too much help. The locations to explore aren't that big. The castle just has about 10 rooms, most of which are usually locked. You do switch to a graveyard location at one point, but there are very few places to explore there as well, so you won't be getting lost in the game. Like I said earlier, the game gets very cheesy about halfway through the game, which somewhat takes away from the game a bit, but there is also one more thing that makes the game feel a bit childish. The inventory items that you pick up are ridiculous sometimes. For instance, on two occasions, Bridget picks up a ladder and puts it in her pocket, which is, of course, impossible. There are a few more instances like this in the game, that may make the person playing the game think about the strangeness of this.

Length - The game is quite a short experience, coming in at about 3-4 hours of gameplay. It is an enjoyable 3-4 hours, but the fun aspect of the game declines as the game goes on and gets stranger and stranger.

Overall, the game is a fun, easy play that was entertaining, short, and simple. It has a few strange parts in it, but they don't take away too much from it. The lack of voice acting was a slight annoyance, but, once again, it doesn't ruin the whole game. I recommend the game to someone looking for an easy adventure game that has a decent story to it.

I found this game very entertaining. I liked the amount of mini puzzles that there was. they were challenging but solvable. The storyline was very interesting. The only down side that I found was that I wish the dialog was spoken not written.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not interested, December 12, 2011

Thank God for the free preview. What happened to the voiceover? The cutscene at the beginning got me intrigued, then all I got was having to read dialogue! Did they decide not to pay the actors for more than a few lines? The game downloaded fine on Windows 7 with 2 gig of Ram and 2.2 ghz. It moves smoothly and the music is nice. But, I won't buy it without voiceover. Voiceover, I think, is important in a game like this because of the inter-character action.

I am running XP with 2Gb of ram and the mouse movement on opening screen was glitchy and it failed to start every time I clicked "New Game". No system requirements mentioned on item page, and no support info I could find. My fault for not checking before I bought it. Beware!
