Nice Break,

This review is from: Layover (Paperback)
As a troubled young man, Jack Grayson had been taken in by the tight-knit Allen family. Jack owed a lot to the Allens and he promised Tom Allen that he'd look after his daughter, Kira, after Tom was gone--despite the fact that Jack had long suppressed some very un-brotherly feelings for her.
True to his word, Jack took his role as guardian very seriously, much to Kira's dismay. Every time Kira developed an interest in a guy, Jack chased him away. Things had gotten even worse once Kira started working as a flight crew member for the same airline as Jack. Jack's latest victim was Arlo Jacobs, a fellow airline employee. Kira's feelings were only sightly mollified by the knowledge that Arlo had a little side action going w/ a sexy flight attendant and probably wasn't worth her time, anyway. In desperation, Kira makes a proposal to Jack that they help relieve some of their mutual stress with some no-strings sex on their out-of-town layovers. Once back home, their relationship would revert to normal. Jack thinks this is a bad idea, one that can only lead to trouble, but, being as desperate as Kira, he reluctantly agrees to the arrangement. Jack's soon in way over his head and wants Kira to be more than his layover sex buddy. Now all he has to do is get Kira to go along w/ the change of plans--and square it w/ the rest of the Allen family. This is an Ellora's Cave book so, yes, there's plenty of steam between Jack and Kira. More than that, though, it is a sweet love story. To me, Jack is the focal point with his difficult childhood and the security and love he finally gains with the Allens and Kira. I was really rooting for things to work out for Jack--and, luckily, they did. This was a quick read--just right for your own layover if you're not fortunate enough to have a Jack available in person.

Romantic Times gives Layover 4 1/2 stars!,
This review is from: Layover (Paperback)
Well-developed characters and motivation make this more than a series of hot sex scenes and turn it into a real story. And the secondary characters are more than placeholders in this fun, fast read.

The charaterizations in this novel are unconvincing; the sex scenes are not particularly erotic; and the descriptions of piloting a jumbo passenger jet are sometimes ludicrous.
The author would have you believe that the male captain and female first officer (the only pilots on board) would both rise from their seats during flight to initiate sex in the cockpit while several hundred passengers and cabin crew members were on board. I kid you not--that scene is in this book. Talk about expecting the reader's "suspension of belief"!

Disappointing,

Yes, its packs some hot sex scenes, but the dialog was "off" I did not enjoy this book and found myself skimming through the pages.

It does have some cheesy moments, but they are few and far between. For the most part, the sex is hot and the true feelings are there. Definitely a quick read as the entire book is less than 200 pages (at least from what I remember). Definitely worth your time!
