Best set since the (now $600!) Lazer Tag Team Ops Deluxe.,

What is as much fun as paintball without the welts and mess? Laser/Lazer Tag! Laser Tag combines the exact same action, strategy and team building that paintball but also allows you to play it inside and with people not willing to get hurt to have fun. But as with paintball, Laser Tag can be expensive if you have to go to places that rent the equipment, sell overpriced food, etc. But if you own the equipment, you can play ANYWHERE for free. With this set the only on going cost is recharging your batteries unlike paintball where you need to purchase new balls every time you play.
So for less than a video game system or a few days playing paintball or Laser Tag at places, you can purchase your own equipment and have tons of fun (while learning and getting exercise) with another friend or even the entire neighborhood. Now on to this exact product. I have played Laser Tag in 2 commercial locations using different brands of equipment, as well as having used four different sets of home Laser Tag equipment. Besides this set, I have played with Lazer Tag Team Ops Deluxe ASIN B00023C3ZU, PHOENIX LTX Lazer Tag system B0013U5JSE, and the Nerf Lazer Tag system that replaced the Phoenix LTX B0026J7EIO. Honestly I have liked something about each system I have played on as they all have places they each excel. The commercial stuff is fun but heavy which results in less fun at the end of the day for me and is why most people stop after an hour or two at those places. The Phoenix LTX and the Nerf branded units that "replaced" it in 2009 are lots of fun and are more durable then the Team Ops or this set you are looking at. The Phoenix LTX guns are heavier and would no doubt stand up to more abuse then the lighter sets. That being said, most of the people that have the Phoenix LTX based sets end up replacing them with something 2 piece for a more complete experience. The Team Ops system set the bar with what you could do with home equipment and remains the golden standard for almost all players. Nothing since has been as enveloping as it has been guns only systems where you are forced to just shoot with the heavy guns, losing the Spy/James Bond experience of sneaking up with a light headset based system. That is why the Team Ops system sells for six hundred dollars now on Amazon. That being said, this Moblie Attack system takes everything that Team Ops does plus adds a feature new features like buzzing in the headset not just the guns when you are hit and clearer color separation so you know who is on which team. Oh and then there is that that for right now, this set is less than one forth the Team Ops price! But these like the Laser Tag sets before them were made in limited quantities so expect the price to rise until they disappear. Since main home systems in terms of production quantity and store placement remain the one piece heavier gun style, these lighter two piece sets will always be in demand and be hard to find. I sold all of my heavy gun LTX based units after playing with these two times and couldn't be happier 6 months later. But remember, all of these lighter headset based systems require you protect them. Do not buy these for someone who is going to throw them in toy box when they are done for the day. Do not buy these for people that get very physical during game play (like tackling players) which is very rare but I figured I would bring it up. My recommendation? Get at least 2 sets so you can play with 4 people. Or depending on price, grab 4 sets to allow 8 people to play at once and to replace broken pieces over time so you aren't having to spend 600 dollars in 18 months to replace something.

The 2 brothers, 9 and 13, who got this as a gift went nuts at first, but its problems caused them to lose interest fairly quickly.
Still, for the price (compared to other brands), the features offer a fairly authentic version of Lazer Tag. Bear in mind, I didn't play with it (darn it!) and this is from the 13 year old's demonstration, but he's very tech savvy and thorough. I may be a bit off on a few details, but I think I have the basics correct, The headset acts as the target and has a 5-petal sort of "life flower" which flashes and loses one petal each time it's hit. One player has a petal with blue lights, the other with red ones. Also, with each successive hit the headset sends low frequency vibrations through your head and body, and a surprisingly convincing "heartbeat" starts pounding as the "wounds" pile up, gradually slowing and eventually stopping as the 5th petal flickers out and you're dead. Each gun has the option of firing 2 separate laser sounds, both very satisfying yet not too loud or annoying, even in a living room of adults on Christmas Eve. Here's the big problem: the headset was either designed FOR pinheads, or BY pinheads. Maybe both. Even the 9 year old couldn't fit the earpieces over his ears; with the head band fully extended, they didn't even come close. Furthermore, the band is held in place by prongs going through holes, belt-style--except the prongs are oriented so they are digging into the wearer's cranium, so they're painful to wear. The boys had a simple solution: they removed the rather silly plastic "goggles" and strapped the headsets on their arms. That seemed to work. Still, they ended up forgetting about the headsets completely and just blasting away with the laser guns. At least for a few hours; after that the guns and headsets stayed in a neat pile under the tree for the following week. The guns and headset aren't heavily built but they seem reasonably durable, and in any case I don't think they'll be played with enough get broken.

The head gear is very uncomfortable. Poor quality...I regret buying this item...This item is not worth the amount of money I spent on it...very overpriced for what you get.

Perhaps ours was broken, but I assumed it was just a horrible design. There was nothing LASER about this LAZER. I think it was using an RF signal instead of a light, which resulted in "direct hits" even if you were aiming the gun straight at the ground. My son played with it once, and they soon realized whomever could squeeze the trigger 5 times first was the winner. Aim, tactics, etc had no bearing as long as you are within range. After being so excited for the toy, he walked in the house and decided it wasn't fun, so we sent it back. If ours was somehow malfunctioning and others actually do require skill, then perhaps it is better than we thought. But I doubt it.

So far my 7 year old has played with it only once. To many parts to keep track of, not sure if its clear on what to look for in order to win, or how to play. Too many batteries. So far not as good as the laser tag at the big laser tag game place

Spent 40 minutes just trying to put it together the parts were not all connected. Why have the glasses they don't adjust to the face right. No laser comes out it only makes sound out of the gun which many already do. WASTE OF MONEY

I bought this for my eight year old for Christmas. We had some issues with fitting the headset too, so we just removed the goggles for a better fit. It vibrates sometimes without anyone shooting which is really annoying. He is an only child so we have only played with it a few times in the house with the lights turned off; however when we have house guests they all fight over the set. I thought about purchasing more sets and playing outside in the woods which would increase the fun. Also I only paid 49 dollars for this exact set at JC Penny online; however they only sell them around christmas time.

I HATE THE VIBRATION ON THE HEAD. ALSO SOMETIMES IT VIBRATES FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE HEAD BAND IS NOT COMFORTABLE.
