In fact, all the kids in the neighborhood age 1 - 10 think this is an awesome toy.

This car worked for about 45 minutes on Christmas Eve, and since then, it will not take a charge in the rechargeable battery.

The charger takes 6 AA batteries and will only recharge the car 4 - 5 times before the 6 AA batteries need to be replaced.

This is an amazing toy for the kids. Bought it for $35 in Toys r us on a deal. The speed is unbelievable and there is a turbo button which makes the car travel in lightning speed. It works as described, the car chases the light with incredible agility. It even reverses and turns automatically to quickly get to where the light from the remote is. It is like a missile that keeps chasing the moving target :) Not sure about the durability as we just bought it a couple of days ago. You need to practice it for a while to maneuver it without hitting the walls. My five year old loves it.

This car is my 5 year old's favorite toy. In fact, all the kids in the neighborhood age 1 - 10 think this is an awesome toy. The car works so well and it's easy enough for a 1 year old to squeeze the trigger and point the light. The car chases the light similar to a cat chasing a flashlight. Non-stop FUN on rainy days.

We are only a few day past Christmas and this thing has eaten $20 worth of AA's. I need to invest in some rechargables but I need 12 of those to make it worth wild and that will cost $$$! I don't know if I would have bought this if I relized how much it would consume. Each charge take 30 min. You get 4 charges from each set of batteries and a play time of 15 min. from each charge. So it's 2hrs of charging, 1 hr of playing = $7 in batteries. So for $7 an hour...It's Meh in my book. I hope the novelty wears off soon cause this toy is costly. As far as fun goes. Yes he loves it. No he cannot control it. It hits everything but the ramp!

Easiest way to do this is using Pros and Cons. But let me first address this "recharging" issue everyone has because we had it too. After my son played with the car for a bit, we hooked up the charger and let it sit. After an hour, we tried to play again and it seemed like it had a dead battery. Looking at the charger, it wasn't acting like the instruction manual said it should. Rather than have a pulsing green light while charging, the red light would come on for about two minutes and then turn off. It turns out, you have to turn the car to the OFF position. There are three positions on the switch "A" "C" and "Off". A and C simply change the IR frequency. But you have to move the slider to the OFF position before the car will charge. Once we did that, the green charge light came on and it charged right up.

PROS
- Car is super fast!
- Does great tricks...does everything it's advertised to do

Cons
- It's a battery hog
- Doesn't follow the light terribly well. The instructions say to use it in a large area and that's the key. Otherwise, it gets all confused trying to go around things and back up.
- The tiny charging cable is easily broken. We placed ours up on the counter to charge and my son came by and flicked the trigger on the remote, causing the car to take off. Well, it yanked itself and the charger onto the floor, and in doing so, broke the super-thin charging cable. The wires are too small to even try to splice. So...it's ruined.

This is really not made for little kids. I would say nobody under the age of 10 will use it without killing it within a day or two.

This car is about as perfect for a 3 year old as I can imagine! When looking to get my son a remote-control car, I was certain a full remote (Left, Right, Forward, Reverse - all variable) would be tough for him to master. At the same time, I was underwhelmed by the fun-factor of child R/C cars that either go super slow or dumb down the controls. This car is exceedingly fast (watch those toes!) and although you can have a blast with it even if you don't have a clue what you are doing, it really does have a steep learning curve on getting any semblance of true control from the IR gun control scheme. Think of a cat chasing a flashlight beam... now give that same cat 50 cups of coffee and you have some idea of the manic fun that this car provides. Another easy & fun capability is that when hitting a bump, wall or obstacle causes the car to flip over, the LED lights in the wheels change to match the flip-side's car color and it just continues to race around uninterrupted. A few things could be annoying: 1) The car battery is recharged by AA batteries in the charging unit. Charges last 10-15 mins the way we use it, but you could use up a lot of batteries very quickly if this is your kids favorite toy. 2) Really only suitable for hard, flat floors, not carpet or uneven ground. 3) Because this car is really (no, REALLY) fast, it hits walls, furniture and bare feet with a LOT of momentum. DO use caution. In all, this was a great find and would absolutely please most young users (up to 10 y.o.)

My son was so excited when he opened this on his 3rd birthday. We put in the 6 brand new AA batteries in the charger and plugged it into the race car to charge for the recommended 30 minutes, and...NOTHING. The laser gun (with 2 brand new AA batteries) light worked, the car lights blinked, we aimed the gun in front of the car and it did not budge. It never once moved. Not to mention that the 6 batteries were completely toast after the 30 minute charge. Total waste of money!!!!
