My 6-year-old was thrilled when he opened this for Christmas but happiness turned to disappointment when it didn't work. The car moves and vaguely responds to the broad direction of the laser light. But it cannot be controlled so it is useless. The problem is that while moving forward it randomly rocks its wheels side to side which results in constant spins and changes of direction. Sometimes it spins 8-9 times in a row. There's no way to get it to go straight for more than a couple feet at a time. We've tried both channels. We've tried barely touching the controller which is supposed to make it go slower. We've tried both high and low reflective surface settings. And we're using the ideal surface of a large area of hardwood flooring. Makes no different. In fact even if I pick the car up off the ground and use the laser I can see it randomly rocking the wheels. Interestingly if you use reverse the problem goes away and it goes straight but only as long as you are in reserve and since you can't steer it prior to that there's no way to line up your directly before going into reverse. And there's no way to steer with control since it will turn randomly if you try.

I've uploaded a video of it's behavior.

Absolute junk. Buyer beware.

UPDATE 12-27-2011: So we exchanged this and tried again. The second car definitely has less random spinning behavior than the first one, so there was obviously something up with it. That said it still is far from controllable enough to do things like successfully guide it toward the stunt ramps. With the new one you can get it to basically follow the light but it still twists and turns along the way and sometimes totally 180's and goes in reverse toward the light. Five of us spent 10 minutes trying to get it to go to the ramp, at least 20 times between us and only succeeded once, by chance. Still a thumbs down.

Our boys got these as Christmas gifts. It seems like tons of fun for one child. But unfortunately the instructons to switch the controller to channel c don't work (for either of them), so that kinda ruins it for two boys. We called the company and they said they will get back to us in a few days. Lame. This is Chritmas morning. If you have one kid, it's pretty cool. If you have two, make sure you get the different frequencies (a/c and (b/c). Don't rely on the ability to switch to channel c because it doesn't work. The only other issue is that it's not really accurate enough to use the ramp. But otherwise is pretty cool.

I've bought this for my 5 year old autist son. He doesnt use the trigger, only the turbo so it always goes on a straight line (This is how you guide the car to the ramp, people! :)) and bangs it on the walls. Of course, like everyone else, i've noticed the random path the car takes when you point the laser on a direction and find it very annoying but my biggest setback is the battery powered charger for the car: After 4 or 5 charges, you have to throw away 6 AA Batteries. And since the car runs only 30 minutes per charge, you can easily imagine how much my battery budget has gone up the roof...

You have to wonder if the company has any parts in the battery business...

This car had many of the problems other reviewers listed - goes so fast it slams into the wall rather than going up the ramp, jittery, always seems to go slightly off from the direction of the laser. But most importantly it died within an hour of opening it on Christmas Eve and never worked again. Sent it back, pleased with Amazon's return policy but not pleased with the car. I seem to never learn to read the reviews first before I buy something the grandkids say they want!

Supplier was very efficient, product arrived promptly, packaged well. Car is overpriced and overated. 9 year old played with it for about 10 minutes and became bored - disappointing Chistmas present. Product should be less than half the price charged.

My 6 year old put this on his Christmas list. Santa obliged reluctantly as I know from past experience these types of toys generally don't make it past Christmas vacation. We have hardwood floors and lots of them so I thought this would work great. Ugghh, NOT. It speeds so fast it is impossible to control. The ramp included is flimsy at best and will not stay in place if left in the middle of the floor. As for zooming towards the wall? Not gonna happen. Have no desire to repaint when the car dings up the walls. We have tried slowing the car down with the controller but come on folks. This toy is made for boys who give no thought to "less pressure" on the throttle. It looks like another one goes back. Santa is so tired of having to return this remote control stuff!

I originally bought the Lazer Stunt Chaser RC Car because It looked like a fun, creative toy for my grandson AND I saw that it uses a rechargeable battery. However, upon further review of the product I discovered that the charging unit for the rechargeable battery takes 6 batteries. In addition, the remote for the car takes 2 more batteries. I sent it back for that reason.

I watched a demo video for this product and it looked awesome, something my son would really enjoy. However, it was not at all what I expected. The car, remote, and the "Charger" all required batteries. Cheaply made, not worth the money.
