Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Naming of Lazy Bugs
I named these imaginary bugs 5 MIMUTE BUGS when I started writing this story because
I always say "Can I have five more minutes?" when my son and wife wake me up on Sundays.
That's why these bugs look like the number 5 and five fingers. When I first read this story
to my son, however, he didn't understand the concept of time.
He kept asking me "What's 5 minutes?", "Is it bigger than yesterday or tomorrow?".... I had to
rename the bugs so that even little kids could understand them. The final name LAZY BUGS
came up because it sounds more imaginary and is pronounced somewhat like my favorite bug, Lady Bugs.

Adorable children's story with great images. I can't imagine the young child who wouldn't get a giggle out of Lazy Bugs.

This author really took their time to produce an excellent quality children's book for Kindle! The images are perfect and the entire book is well formatted!!!

In a world of growing childhood obesity, and paranoid parents not even letting their kids walk or ride bikes to school, there certainly is a need to teach kids to be active and not lazy. Even from a non physical activity laziness aspect such as working hard at school instead of daydreaming to get better grades is also probably even more valuable a lesson in high unemployment times. Lazy Bugs though doesn't really achieve any objectives in combatting laziness, because the authors don't seem to understand what it is. Some bizarre examples are a rabbit spending five minutes to put makeup on when it's going out to lunch with the family. That's not laziness. Annoying from the kid and father's point of view. Pointless, needless and a bunch of other things, but laziness isn't one of them. The father and rabbit want to play for five minutes when the mother wants them to take a bath, again that's not being lazy, they are actively doing something. Sure it's not what the mother wants but it's not being lazy by any means. A mother wanting them to wash the green off their hands while they are still eating is stupid on her part, but again not lazy unless this is implying not using your brain and saying something or acting stupid as a result is lazy but that point isn't explained here.

The bugs calling the child Racoobit came across as an insult in the form of a derogatory term to the child's multiracial heritage too, with the father being a racoon and the mother a rabbit. Yet they never get their comeuppance for it.

Live Without Us if You Can is the second half of the book's title, we definitely can do that! A book on combating laziness is surely needed, this is just not that book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect To Get Your Kids More Active July 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a fun children's book that I would recommend you read on your computer or kindle fire. The pictures really pop on a color screen. This is a very fun book that encourages you to be more active and stop being lazy.

The text and pictures are on the same page so that kids can read and enjoy the pictures at the same time which some kindle books do not do. Definitely worth checking out if you've got some little ones that just sit around all day.

1.0 out of 5 stars confusing
This story seems over exaggerated to me. Some of the things just didn't seem that lazy. I think this book is a little harsh for kids. Sorry but I just didn't enjoy it.

More About the Author

Picture books were the first books that offered me exhilarating moments while developing my imagination and creativity. It seems that this special experience has helped me with my career as a product designer and graphic artist. It might also be this special experience that makes me still enjoy reading picture books more than my son. When we come across fun pictures or wonderful stories, my son and I giggle and laugh, looking at each other. This is one of the happiest moments in my life and has led me to look for more good picture books. And after these feelings have been added up, I decided to make inspiring independent books myself which both parents and kids can enjoy.

As a father, I love writing and illustrating books and reading them to my son. I tell him stories about my life and the world when I read my picture books to my son. In these moments, it does not matter if he fully understands it or not. All that matters is that his looking upon me on my knees with a twinkle in his eyes.
