5.0 out of 5 stars Father of a two year old....
Having a two year old, I really appreciate the chapter on babies and kids. The book lists a ton of really good resources for parents who want to raise environmentally conscious and healthy kids but feel the urge to dress their kids in something other than burlap sacks and cloth diapers.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Lazy Consumerist, July 24, 2008
This review is from: The Lazy Environmentalist: Your Guide to Easy, Stylish, Green Living (Paperback)
The cover and description of this book makes it sound like it details easy and painless ways to be more environmentally friendly, or possibly a book telling you how certain things you think are environmentally friendly really aren't. In reality, it is an advertisement for companies that bill themselves as "green." All it does is list companies in different categories that bill themselves as environmentally friendly. If you are interested enough in the environment to pick up this book, you probably already know about a lot of them. You can find everything this book tells you for free on the internet if you are interested in making a purchase in one of these categories. But even easier (and lazier) is to just not buy this stuff in the first place. Don't waste your money on this book- just think of the trees you'll save!

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive resource guide, August 2, 2007
This review is from: The Lazy Environmentalist: Your Guide to Easy, Stylish, Green Living (Paperback)
Josh Dorfman, radio personality and engaging author, has put together a very uptodate and comprehensive guide for people who want to make serious changes in their comsumption, whether large or small.

I'm considering whether to buy or build a new home, and resources for 'green' remodeling and 'green' building, as well as 'green' pre-fab are here. Chapters are short, not usually more than 7 or 8 pages, and begin with narrative. At the end of each piece of commentary are the resources he mentions, complete with a reminder of the company or service provider, as well as all pertinent contact information. There are chapters that address almost every facet of our lives, from carpeting and paint, to bedding and toilets.

Dorfman make being lazy, "heavenly". He opens the door for us so that going green isn't as intimidating as it may seem. We aren't lost by crazy industry-specific lingo. He explains terms well in simple definitions and allows us to see that even in green circles, there isn't a 'secret handshake' sort of clique.

This book is essential for people who are interested in making a difference, but just aren't sure where to begin.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is the Living Green Dictionary!!!, October 2, 2007
This review is from: The Lazy Environmentalist: Your Guide to Easy, Stylish, Green Living (Paperback)
This book has compiled so many wonderful resources and information for any type of "green living". If you want to build, add solar panels, clean or eat green this is the one book that has it all. I refer to it as the green dictionary and use if as a source of info all the time.

This book is great, and the title is right on. Instead of all the doom and gloom out there about the environment, this book simply informs you of the easy ways to help diminish our impact on the environment without changing your lifestyle. I have already switched to 100% methane source for my electricity and bought a scooter getting 80MPG, thanks to this book. Well done, Mr. Dorfman!

1.0 out of 5 stars To buy your way out of climate change, buy this book!, March 10, 2009
This review is from: The Lazy Environmentalist: Your Guide to Easy, Stylish, Green Living (Paperback)
A disappointing book that concentrates on "green" products you can buy with lists of websites you may visit to make these purchases. The book is one giant internet search for products and websites. Consider buying ACEEE's Consumer Guide to Home Energy Savings if you really want to save energy and the environment.
Chapters include Clothing, Outdoor Gear, Travel, Cars, Real Estate, Architecture and Construction (lists of architects, rugs, decks, types of paint, insulation), Energy Alternatives (green tags, solar), Furniture, Kitchen, Bedroom, Housecleaning, Gardening, Animals, Babies, Electronics, Business and Office, Investing, Media, and Death and Dying.

I think anyone who is the least bit interested in being environmentally friendy would want to have this affordable and easy to use book on their bookshelves. I have been immersed professionally in sustainable furnishings for years and it contains eco-friendly furniture sources that I was not aware of! It lists, with brief descriptions, stylish, eco-friendly options for a wide range of purchases ranging from clothes to travel.

1.0 out of 5 stars You Have This Information Already!, August 8, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have never taken the time to write a review before; I was so incredibly irritated about this book that I decided to take the time to write one.

Obviously if you are reading this review you have an internet connection. Since you have an internet connection you have the ability to get all the information contained in this book. All the information can be easily found by doing some simple Google searches.

This book was a complete waste of money. Not only do I wish I could get my money back...I wish I could get the 30 minutes of my life back that I spent on this book. I was so irritated at myself for buying this piece of junk that I promptly removed it from my Kindle.
