Best and most unusual self-help book I've ever read!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lazy Man's Way to Riches: DYNA/PSYC Can Give You Everything in the World You Really Want! (Paperback)
I've read about 75 of the best known self-help books, and TheLazy Man's Way to Riches is the most unusual one, and it actuallyworks! If you want to actually accomplish things, get it - but get the ORIGINAL, 1973 edition, which AMAZON.COM has in paperback and hardcover. Avoid the re-issue or the "Roadmap" workbook, both written 13 years after Joe Karbo's death. They are loaded with extraneous writing that sometimes contradicts the original text within.

Getting what you want,
By Robert Swan (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Lazy Man's Way to Riches: DYNA/PSYC Can Give You Everything in the World You Really Want! (Paperback)
I read Joe Karbo's The Lazy man's way to riches whilst still living in New Zealand in 1983. Joe's philosophy impressed me a great deal and not long after that I left NZ for a new life in Australia. In 1984 I began implementing the strategies and techniques from Joes' book in my own life and met with a great deal of success. Since 1989 I have been working as a personal growth and development consultant with unemployed people throughout Australia, using many of these strategies, alongside those of Anthony Robbins, Norman Vincent Peale, Robert Kiyosaki, Steven Covey and Edward de Bono in my presentations and training. Over all the results have been amazing, and my heart bursts with love and pride when I witness the changes that occur in peoples lives when they take on and apply the things Joe Karbo wrote about.Joe's book became my bible and I lost count of the number of times I lent it out and/or had to tape it back together again because it was falling apart. Eventually in 1995 it disappeared and I have been searching for it ever since. So it is with much joy that I order a new copy from amazon.com. The primary reason for this is that in my life I have been blessed with meeting so many incredible people, one of whom was Robert Kiyosaki who wrote a wonderful book called, "If you want to be rich and happy don't go to school". I have been fortunate enough to have worked with Robert for short time on one of his sojourns to Australia and he gave me some advice which I have never forgotten. That is, that no matter how many times you may read, try, do or see something, there is always some new thing to learn or some new distinction to make. This has been so true in the work I have done using Joe Karbo's The lazy man's way to riches. Dyna /psych is simple and powerful and does make a difference if you apply it with persistence, discipline and determination. The rewards, both material and spiritual are immense. Life is beautiful. Thank you Joe.

You lazy book!,
By Kent (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Lazy Man's Way to Riches: How to Have Everything in the World You Really Want! (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
Lazy Man? It'll take a little more effort than that to get rich. And that's where this book comes in handy. Using a psychological practice called Dyna/Psych, the author attempts to get your brain working towards your goals, and not against them. Highly powerful and useful techniques! As a matter of fact, I tried the method of "Super Suggestion" out to get myself to sleep better... and now I have a harder time waking up. Great stuff. However, the author, in the later chapters, gets into some lenghthy explanations about running a business. Being only 18, I didn't find any of that mumbo-jumbo interesting. It was tiring, in fact, and not all that "motivating." But if you ARE trying to sell some sort of widget, then read it all. Yes, every word, because it's written with intent to help, and that's exactly what it CAN do. Of course, this was a self-help book about making money written almost thirty years ago. Out-dated? Absolutely. But the part about the brain is not. And that's what you should get out of this book.

Gives a simple process for goal setting,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lazy Man's Way to Riches: DYNA/PSYC Can Give You Everything in the World You Really Want! (Paperback)
People tend to become what they think about all the time or almost all the time (as in a dominant thought). Joe Karbo explains how to invent affirmations for yourself which work. He encourages you to repeat these written ideas at least twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. By setting and saying these affirmations designed to gradually improve all areas of your life, you can become more successful in both your professional, business life and in your personal, family life. This process worked for Karbo and in some cases it took repeating the same idea year in and year out for the idea to actually materialize. Persistence paid off. One surprising hint Karbo provided in my view was that he said affirmations are more effective when written in the present tense vs some other tense so as to engage the imagination and the subconscious mind, for example, someone who was starting at the low end of the economic ladder would write a financial affirmation like "I am a millionaire" or someone who wanted a better relationship with his wife would write "I am a loving and kind husband." That style of expression tended to engage the process which turns an idea into reality.

Do Yourself A Favor! Get the Revised Lazy Man's Way,
By T C Tierney (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Lazy Man's Way to Riches: How to Have Everything in the World You Really Want! (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
This book packs a double good punch! The first is that it is the best personal growth-self help book I've ever read. Seriously. I am a self-help junkie with a large success library of self-help books and the Lazy Man Way to Riches Revised is my favorite by far! Karbo and Nixon revised the original 70's "Lazy Man", which was great, into this true classic that works for today's world. It still has everyword of the original in it, but it also now has more up to date ideas and suggestions. Their style is simple and direct, easy to read and understand and it has tons of wonderful motivational quotes! Everyone loves a good quote! Now here is the best thing about it ... it's easy to apply to my life so I can actually achieve the goals I set - not just read how to achieve them. Karbo and Nixon are like the wise old owls in the woods. Their wealth of experience and information about how to "get from where you are to where you want to be" has all been pulled together and put into this book. I have already made some long overdue changes needed in my life. I really bought the book for the self-help part. I didn't even think about the second part of the book when I ordered it. I have to tell you - the second part of the book was a fantastic surprise. I am in sales and didn't think I had anything to learn, but I learned so much from the first part of the book I figured it wouldn't hurt to read the second half. I'm glad I did because I learned alot from the second part of the book, which is really about direct response marketing. I don't do mail order, but I found the selling and marketing principles more helpful than any other sales or business book I've read. The part on ad writing is worth the price of the book alone. Much of the information in the second part of the book is dated, but the basic selling and marketing principles are timeless and work in today's world just as well. I am now using those principles to help build my Internet business!

Mr Karbo believes that most people are too busy earning a living to make any money. What we call "luck" is, in fact, a direct result of the correct or incorrect application of natural laws anyone can use effectively, if he knows how. Karbo includes an extremely useful chapter on getting your unconscious mind to help you make important decisions. The process, he says, works in a seemingly magical way and has been used by many of the great minds in history. It involves 3 steps: (1). Write down the problem as concisely as you can on a piece of paper; (2). Try to obtain an answer by listing in one column the reasons for taking a particular action , and in another the reasons against it. Often, just doing these two steps will solve the problem without further effort, and (3). If you don't arrive at a satisfactory answer, ask you "unconscious computer" to solve it for you. Give it a definite time frame ,e.g., "by 4 PM tomorrow I will know excactly what to do about...If it's a really big issue, give the computer more time. Then just forget about it altogether. Remember: Convictions move mountains.

Joe Karbo...one cool dude.,

This review is from: The Lazy Man's Way to Riches: DYNA/PSYC Can Give You Everything in the World You Really Want! (Paperback)
In the early 70's I met Joe in a meeting. He was brillient, an interesting man. He had alittle bit of the schepille this is so easy you're just about crazy to pass on it. I read his book twice a year since 1974. My life is rich far beyoud my expectations. He doesn't tell you how as much as allow you to find you own way. This book is a classic, this book is simple, this books work.

The coolest book on the internet,

This review is from: The Lazy Man's Way to Riches: DYNA/PSYC Can Give You Everything in the World You Really Want! (Paperback)
With its low-budget, DIY cover and it's too good to be true title, this guide looks like it's all hype, maybe even a scam. And if I remember correctly, the very effective ad for it ran in sensationalist tabloids and other places you wouldn't perhaps take too seriously for finding life-changing tools. But the fact is this little manual combines the techniques of affirmations, subconscious programming, visualization, self-hypnosis and using intuition, all in a few simple steps, all in about the first 60 pages. I'm convinced, based on my experiences and reading and studying more well-known, less simple books, that the stuff in here will work for anybody, as long as they do it every day. Joe Karbo was a true maverick who personified the American entrepreneurial spirit. This book is a beautiful thing.
