This is the second scooper of this kind I have purchased through Amazon. I was very happy with the first one, but unfortunately it didn't survive the Winter. (Shouldn't have kept it outside, but who wants a poop coated tool indoors? :) )
When I went to purchase another, the original was no longer available, so I chose this one. (It looked fine in the picture). It's not nearly as strong or sturdy as the first. The springs are weak, which makes the job so much harder. If I had read the fine print, and knew it was coming from Target, I wouldn't have chosen this one.
Now I see it's on sale for $9.99 - maybe it's worth that, but not the $17.99 I paid a couple of months ago

Come on, guys. It's black with purple trim, and it has "POOP PATROL" in big letters on it. There's even a cartoon dog wearing a police hat. How can you not love this thing?

I'm now the envy of all my neighbors. They look at me, swiftly harvesting poo in my gym shorts, and they're all "Damn, he's smooth. It must be the POOP PATROL." Even my dogs are in awe, staring at it like it's some ancient relic from their canine ancestors.

Don't be one of those losers with a shovel. Get the POOP PATROL.

This is a well made piece of equipment, it's even pretty,(purple color). Best if all it does the job. It even picks up deer droppings, a real problem in our area. Dog droppings, wet or dry, large or small are a cinch!

This product has almost made cleaning up my dog's old dinners a joy, it leaves you far away from smells, but still in good reach.

The sharp jaws pick up more then just the leftovers, which is a plus and minus, and the spring is strong on the draw back, making it so if this is a weekly / biweekly thing you will be getting a work out. try keeping it out of the rain.

I have two 80 lb. labs. The Firstrax Poop Patrol works well picking up large dog messes on the yard. I would buy it again.

I bought this for my two big dogs, an English Mastiff mix and a purebred Great Dane. As they are giant breeds, they eat a ton, and tend to "return" just as much to my backyard. I don't really like the old metal rake types since they need two hands, so I picked this up. I was wary of it's size, but it does pretty well, even with the presents my dane leaves me.

The one handed operation is a key feature, I can have this in one hand and a bag in the other and usually get the yard done in short order. The jaws are flexible and strong enough to fish stray pieces out of snow or deep grass without picking up everything around them. My only complaint is that the jaws can get a bit dirty and don't clean too easily. Also, the spring will likely crap out (excuse my pun) in relatively little time, but that's fairly easy to replace. I'd recommend this to any dog owner who likes a one handed clean up.

I became familiar with the Poop Patrol Jaw Scoop while volunteering with our local humane shelter. After the first time I saw it used, I knew I needed one for our house. It arrived quickly and is easy to use. Can't believe I've now become a poop scooper myself instead of tip toeing through the yard. It's great!

I had bought this for my boyfriend who picks up our dogs poo (our deal, I feed, he cleans :P ) He said it was the best thing I've ever bought him, lol. It's lightweight, and has the jaws of death that pick up ANYTHING. It's got strong jaws which allows it to pick up heavier poop. And is far enough away that you don't have to smell or get too up to it.

I have had dogs my whole life and thought i would try something new this time by purchasing this scoop. i have always used the two piece metal "dust pan" type of scoop before but thought with the great reviews i read i would give this one a try. Although i call myself lazy in the title, i think that there are a lot of people out there like myself. I scoop poops once a day...thats it... no more... no less. If you are like me DO NOT BUY THIS SCOOP unless you also carry around your poop bucket. the jaws only allow you to pick up one... maybe two poops at a time. I have a big yard so i have to make trips back and forth to the garbage. the dust pan type scoop works much better if you are like me. If you only like to pick up one poop at a time this scoop is AWESOME. Hope this helps someone make there choice.
