Tried a couple of turntables and swivels before this one. This is a bearings type turntable and it performs beautifully. I use it for my golf club loft/lie gauge. Now I can measure left and right handed clubs very easily. I just wish a 10" model was available as this one sticks out beyond the gauge, but I can live with that. It will likely work for lightweight and heavy objects equally well. Though the unit is made with a sheetmetal type material, I think it could handle up to 200lbs or more. There are holes in the top ring for you to attach a carrying plate for your object. I didn't need one as the foot of my gauge sits nicely on the top ring. If I had to do it over again, I would purchase the 9" version and attach a thin plexiglass or metal sheet to hold my gauge. As the top ring's surface is about 1/16" higher than the base ring, you can attach a plate that can stick out beyond the turntable with no problem. That way the swivel would disappear under your object. The swivel sits approx. 3/8" high, so it's very low profile.
