Cartridges don't work in Brother MFC 5860-CN,

They looked like the cartridge that came out, but after inserting the printer said "no cartridge" on its little display screen. I pulled the new cartridge out and examined it closely compared to the original. The new replacement was missing a spring-loaded pin that must activate a sensor. I opened a second cartridge (from the 3-pak) and it was missing the pin also.
