I have owned a pair for 2-and-half years and the left one leaks. Contacted the company and they had nothing for me. All I asked was where I could send my boots for repair. They were no help whatsoever.

Part of my disdain comes from how vaunted their products and prices are. What crap. Among other things, they pride themselves on making a hard-working boot. Hardly. The only thing these boots are good for is for fashion models to tip-toe around the strets of London and Paris.

Quality, craftsmanship, integrity: all crap.

I returned two pairs of these boots as the calf size was too large for my slim, but athletic, calf. I have worn rubber boots most of my life.....I find these boots as the ultimate with the leather liner.......however since the culture in the US is more on the large calf size currently. The North American distribution has concurred that the larger calf size should be the standard. If your calf size is 43 (zipped and snapped) these are the boots for you.....I am still waiting for Le Chameau to bring back the special order calf size. The old standard was 41 (16.5 in) for a 43 cm boot. The foot sizes run 1/2 larger than other models...I wear a 44 but ordered a 43 and the fit perfectly.......in the foot, but not in the calf.......I must concur that the original shipping and return was painless and most efficient without any cost to me. My card was credited within a week after the return.

What can I say about these boots. I purchased my first pair in 1997 when I was shooting Sporting Clays and had to navigate muddy courses. Leather boots always failed and most rubber boots left my feet clammy and smelly. These boots were recommended by a professional shooter and I bit the bullet and bought. Best footwear purchase I ever made.

I moved to a country home in 2003 and I wear these boots every day! Use them for daily dog walks, mail retrieval, yard chores, mowing, riding the tractor and ATV, shoveling snow (Or Running the Blower), walks down old Railroad roadbeds, retrieving firewood, shooting and the dozens of other things outdoors that occupy me. The first pair have been through tough conditions and although some dry rot has set in around the top they still keep my feet dry even standing in a cold stream over my ankles. The old boots look awful, but still function with no maintenance over the years. They keep my feet warm and dry in snow and cold water and cool and dry in hot summers.

I decided to get a new pair before they become unavailable, they are made in France after all. Never can tell what might happen. At least they are not made in China like just about everything else. Vive La France, as long as they keep making these boots.

And they are just about the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned. The zipper makes all the difference in these boots, easy on/off.

Even the British Royal family wears them, French made boots.

These are awesome leather lined boots that are Made in FRANCE not China! The sizing is made for 2 pairs of heavy boot socks while hunting and are UK sizes. I ordered a half to one size smaller as I am only weraing one pair of socks and the fit is perfect. Don't let the price steer you away from purchasing these boots as the are worth every penny and then some. The only thing you need for these boots is a Peet Boot Dryer and you will have fresh dry boots to start out each day. I have been using a boot dryer for over 20 years and in fact have 2 of them.

I've been in the market for Wellington (rubber) boots for a while now, and have tried on Hunters, and various cheap pair, and nothing comes close to the comfort of these boots! They're certainly not cheap, but the fit and feel of these boots is outstanding. If you add the Airconfort insoles, they get even more comfortable! Beware that the sized do run big. I usually wear a 9-1/2, but the 9s fit way better than the 10s.

I'm a girl with bigger calves and a size 8.5 US size foot. I ordered the mens boots to get a bigger calve size in a men's US size 7 (EU 9) and they fit perfectly. I like the zipper too. It helps getting the boots on in off. The boots are pricey but so worth it. I will be able to use these boots for a very long.

I've had the same pair of these boots since 1995. Only recently has the rubber started to dry out, but they still are completely waterproof. They're comfortable and have stood up to just about everything (from winter logging work to summer swampy mushroom walks) with no problem. None of the glue joints have even begun to show signs of delaminating. Yes, they're super-expensive, but not when you consider how many other pairs of mud boots you might have bought over 18 years. The leather inside is awesome--not only is it comfortable, but it keeps your socks put unlike rubber interiors which cause them to bunch up. I'm considering buying another pair for the closet in the next few years just in case they stop making them.

This is more an FYI than a review, as I couldn't use the boot. Le Chameau makes the Chasseur in several standard calf circumferences, 41cm, 44cm and 46cm. I ordered the EU 45 size boot and it came as the 46cm calf. I would expect all of the sizes to ship with a calf of 46cm, as there is no specification whatsoever in the product details. It was my wishful thinking that it would be a 41cm. Those extra 5cm make a BIG difference.

The boot itself has a slightly creamier color than the pictures show, like adding a shot of milk. The footbed has two plateaus, one at the heel, and a lower one for the front of the foot. It pretty much follows the sole in the picture. I would expect the central, downward slope to give it some inherent arch support, but there isn't any actual arch. If I can find any 41cm boots, I'll update this review.

I really like these boots. They are not stiff like other rubber boots I have owned in the past and are very comfortable. The zippered and gusseted side makes it really easy to take them on or off, which is a great benefit for a tall boot, especially if you tuck your pant leg inside the boot. The leather lining is soft and feels great. They do tend to get hot/cold fairly easily, but that is no different than any other tall, uninsulated rubber boot I have previously worn. If they get a little warm I just unzip them for a little while and it helps cool them down. I have been wearing them every day for the past couple weeks due to heavy rains and my feet have not complained once. That's just how comfortable they are. The price is high, but in my opinion, the boots are worth it.
