With this book, author Jen Duchene has struck a chord that lies hidden away in the cobwebbed attic of so many women: less doing and more cocooning. She awakens the desire to weave and spin a space that not only reflects one's taste and style, but reflects one's very essence. Ms Duchene isn't telling us how to create a pretty room that is merely a showcase for the ego or one's friends. She is talking about creating a place to be spacious yourself...to open to the untended reservoirs within--whether of deep reflection, meditation, reckless pondering, the birthing of new dreams or the rebirthing of old ones. This delightful book ring true because it is clear that the author has been both deprived of this essential dimension of life, as well as nourished herself back to life within the walls of her own sacred space. Before you get too far into these pages, Le Chic Cocoon will have you seeking a corner, a nook or a whole room to make your own...and in which to own more of yourself. After all, we intuitively understand that out of true cocooning comes nothing less than metamorphosis.

Le Chic Cocoon has served as a wake up call for me. We women walk a path of service to everyone and anything around us. We decorate the rooms "guests" will see first, we decorate our souls with others' reflection of ourselves. The time has come to truly be "selfish"--which is **caring for ourselves first**. We are useless to those we care for if we don't take care of ourselves first. (Ever notice the flight attendant tells you to put YOUR oxygen mask on first??)

Le Chic Cocoon exists literally and figuratively. Build a nest within yourself to connect, and one you can revel in literally. I have already begun both. I highly recommend this book to women who struggle with self care, the guilt of being "selfish" and who need to reconnect with themselves to truly be of service to those around them. If I could give it a ten, I would.

The author does a fantastic job of convincing me that being selfish is a good thing! I never thought of it that way, but really, we do all need our sacred spaces to go and recharge, places that are just our own, without having to compromise on style and taste. Yes, I'm convinced, and I plan to declare my space and make it my own! Thank you for permission to be absolutely me! Just bought another copy for a gift! I can see this will be given out to many this Holiday!

Jennifer's bold and spot-on assessment of a woman's entitlement to her very own `patch of
peace' is both liberating and refreshing. Baring her own soul and sharing her
personal experiences adds an intimacy that readers will identify with and reinforces
the common bond that we women share .The simple-to-follow action
steps enables any woman, regardless of space or resources, to create and start
reveling in her very own Le Chic Cocoon.I would recommend as perfect for gift giving!

Format: Paperback
Women all know that their lives will be full of changing roles - from single chick to wife, mother to empty-nester, sexy siren to "exhausted old bat" - but what they don't know is how to adapt to those changes within a soft, safe place of comfort and peace. That's the magic of Jen's languid, beautifully crafted "how to" book, Le Chic Cocoon. She offers her reader both the rationale and the permission to take the time to create your own place, no matter how big or small, so that you too can evolve from caterpillar to butterfly with every new chapter that comes along.

With her book in hand, I reorganized my own space (actually my office) to put my most inspiring piece of art (a Rembrandt etching) right at eye level to remind myself that everything I create must be as close to Rembrandt quality as I, Juliet, can produce. And that everyone has an inner Rembrandt, a gift from God. It is up to each of us to step into our God-given talents and share them with humanity however possible. I had lovely candles (stuffed behind books), and photos (way too many) and glass art in the room. That glass was mostly standing in as paperweights that have to get moved all the time but it wasn't chic. Not at all organized. Certainly not peaceful... yet! But it will be. Now that I have a plan and now that I know the price of not doing this selfish pursuit of making a space work just for me.

"If each person in the world changes one person - themselves - for the better - wouldn't this planet be incredible?"

Yeah, Jen, it would. As you so poignantly put it, "when we touch the depth of who we are, we open our wings."

Thank you for this lovely book. It has opened my eyes, my heart and most importantly, reminded me to breathe OUT! Bless.
