Book Description

September 20, 2011
Le Chic Cocoon discusses the power of design and decorating to enable women to harness their instinctive power and meet their own needs. Underlying themes are the role of women, feminism, and self-care. The book provides a unique take on the physical embodiment of a woman's inner self: in order to be her best self, a woman needs a space of her own in which to focus, dream, and be selfish, in the most positive sense of the word. By being selfish, a woman can unleash her creativity and reach her life's potential.

5.0 out of 5 stars Less Doing, More Cocooning September 24, 2011
Format:Paperback
With this book, author Jen Duchene has struck a chord that lies hidden away in the cobwebbed attic of so many women: less doing and more cocooning. She awakens the desire to weave and spin a space that not only reflects one's taste and style, but reflects one's very essence. Ms Duchene isn't telling us how to create a pretty room that is merely a showcase for the ego or one's friends. She is talking about creating a place to be spacious yourself...to open to the untended reservoirs within--whether of deep reflection, meditation, reckless pondering, the birthing of new dreams or the rebirthing of old ones. This delightful book ring true because it is clear that the author has been both deprived of this essential dimension of life, as well as nourished herself back to life within the walls of her own sacred space. Before you get too far into these pages, Le Chic Cocoon will have you seeking a corner, a nook or a whole room to make your own...and in which to own more of yourself. After all, we intuitively understand that out of true cocooning comes nothing less than metamorphosis.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wake up call September 28, 2011
Format:Paperback
Le Chic Cocoon has served as a wake up call for me. We women walk a path of service to everyone and anything around us. We decorate the rooms "guests" will see first, we decorate our souls with others' reflection of ourselves. The time has come to truly be "selfish"--which is **caring for ourselves first**. We are useless to those we care for if we don't take care of ourselves first. (Ever notice the flight attendant tells you to put YOUR oxygen mask on first??)

Le Chic Cocoon exists literally and figuratively. Build a nest within yourself to connect, and one you can revel in literally. I have already begun both. I highly recommend this book to women who struggle with self care, the guilt of being "selfish" and who need to reconnect with themselves to truly be of service to those around them. If I could give it a ten, I would.
