Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Designed specifically for preparing pastry-topped dishes like tarte Tatin that start on the stovetop, finish in the oven, and then must be flipped onto a platter for serving, this round, 9-3/4-inch, 2-inch-deep pan is versatile enough to be used in many ways. It's ideal for deep-dish pies, cakes, and quiches. And because it's safe on any stovetop, including induction, it can brown and sauté foods. Large, flat handles on the sides facilitate flipping pastry-topped dishes and permit the pan to be carried ceremoniously to the table. A recipe booklet accompanying the pan recounts the tale of tarte Tatin's accidental invention.

The pan is made of cast iron, with both exterior and interior clad in two coats of Le Creuset's famous bright enamel. As cast iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the pan cooks food evenly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating. It's also dishwasher-safe. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron cookware, the pan is hand cast in a one-of-a-kind sand mold and hand finished at the Le Creuset factory in France. It carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than non-stick frying pan, November 25, 2002
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tatin Dish - Blue (Kitchen)
I always used good quality non-stick pans (All-Clad and Steel-On) but over time the coating starts to flake off. In the department stores, I would notice Le Creuset but never considered it because of the price and also because I thought non-stick was better. I decided to buy this Anniversary Pan to try out Le Creuset and it's great. It is one of the more affordable Creuset pans and it's really well-made. I am using everyday for frying, baking, and broiling -- the finish looks brand-new. Now I see why they can offer a 100-year warranty for their products. Next time I need new pots and pans, I'll spend the extra money and buy this brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anniversary Pan, October 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Tatin Dish - Blue (Kitchen)
A must for all LeCreuset lovers. The pan is equally functional on the stovetop where the basic ingredients are sauted, then additional ingredients added and into the oven for the melding and baking process. A wonderful baker as well - apple cake, etc. I can not think of a better pan to add to your LeCreuset cookware - and well priced!

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware!, April 25, 2005

The first pan that came from Amazon had a defect in the enamel, a white splotch on one of the handles. I requested a replacement and the next one that came was damaged in the same manner. They are functionally ok, but perhaps they are factory seconds.
