Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Poach chickens, simmer stocks, cook pasta, or prepare a vegetable soup or classic chili in this tall, narrow, 8-quart stockpot with a tight-fitting lid. Made of heavy-gauge steel and double-coated with hard, bright enamel, the stockpot coordinates with Le Creuset's famed enameled cast-iron cookware in the French manufacturer's handsome colors and is as at home in the dining room as a serving vessel as it is in the kitchen on the stovetop or in the oven. The lid has a plastic knob that is ovenproof to 450 degrees F. Fitted with a steel rim to prevent chipping, the pot is durable enough to outlive its 101-year warranty against defects and goes safely into the dishwasher and refrigerator. --Fred Brack

Product Description

The Le Creuset stockpot is styled and colored to match other pieces in the collection, but due to its size is made of steel with an enamel coating. If it were made of cast iron you'd never be able to lift it safely, especially with bubbling soup or stew inside! The lid fits tightly to keep all those delicious aromas and flavors inside. This 8 quart pot is wonderful for simmering chicken stock or marinara sauce, boiling pasta for spaghetti night and steaming bulky vegetables.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Iron and Below Usual Le Creuset Quality, January 4, 2004

I've used it and sent it back. My iron Le Cruset products are great. This one, made of steel and coated with enamel, started chipping on the exterior and interior after only one month of use. I was not impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great stockpot! Finally got a good one!, December 26, 2003
This review is from: Le Creuset 8-Quart Stockpot, Blue (Kitchen)
This stockpot is wonderful!. They have a double core inside. They are great for soups and sauces. I make an awesome southwest corn chowder in them (recipe go toabout.com)Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel 6-Quart Covered Stockpot, Cobalt) You cannot cook sauces on high heat or it will burn the bottom. You have to simmer sauces on low or medium heat. I had to use these pots because I used to have an induction stove and only LeCreuset pots worked on my other stove. I no longer have the stove, but still have these pots. I love them. The company is wonderful about replacing the pot if you have a problem. You call their 800 number and get a referral number and send the pot back to their company in South Carolina. LeCrueset is great about replacing their products and are backed by a 101 year warranty. I also have a couple of dutch ovens and a few sauce pans and frying pans. They wash up nicely and are readily easy to clean. The one problem I had with the stock pot (not the one I currently own) was that underneath the handle, rust (the size of a pinhole)(used to leak out of the outside of the pot and run down the pot. I called the company and they replaced it, but the same thing kept happening. The company explained it as heat and expansion. My personal opinion was that this is a manufacturer's defect. (Rust does not look too great when you are serving to company, running down the side of the pot). I sent the defective pots back to them and you can trade up to another pot, which I did. I traded pots I didn't want with them and got pots (another dutch oven) that I could use. I recently reordered the Stockpot here and now I do not have a problem with the holes and rust down the bottom on the stockpot I received from Amazon.com. I finally received a perfect pot!! These pots are great for cooks and chefs and all types of cooking. They are professional pots. Emeril uses them, Martha Stewart, Bobby Flay, etc. I love them and like I stated the 101 year warranty is excellent. By far, the best warranty that anyone ever has. And believe me, I have sent my pots back a couple of times with absolutely no problem with them returning a replacement.

2.0 out of 5 stars performance worse than looking, July 29, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Le Creuset 8-Quart Stockpot, Blue (Kitchen)
I ordered this one as my first purchase of Le Creuset products, and it was way below my expectation. The enamel coating looks pretty but is very hard for cleaning. Even my soup ingredients sticked to the bottom and I had to scrub really hard to get rid of it. I will stick to my Calphalon nonstick saucepan from now on.
