I had two LeCreuset spatulas that I used all the time, so when the blue spatula set showed up in my Gold Box, I enthusiastically ordered. I love the selection in the 7-piece set. Small complaint though... the various pieces are not all the same shade of blue. Some are cornflower blue, others a bright royal blue. I can live with this, but anyone with a "decorator kitchen" might be disappointed.
Like almost everyone, over the years I have picked up various spoons, whisks, turners/flippers, etc., etc., etc. Plastic, wood, metal; the whole gamut. I have also known that this Le Creuset set has been an Amazon staple for quite a while. Well, I finally caught it at a price that can't be beat. So, why spend the money? Do you enjoy creating at the stove or is the microwave your best friend? These are tools for the kitchen and it is good to know that these spatulas will be around for years and years, doing the job. One last point. A lot of people mention the wooden handles and how inappropriate they appear. There is a solid reason for this. These spatulas are intended to work with the Le Creuset line of cookware. Cooks, as they are wont to do, bang on the top of a pot with any utensil. Over time, this causes the coating to chip off down to the cast iron. Better to replace a handle or two than beating up a $150 pot.
I saw this set in the blue on Amazon just before Christmas for the amazing price of $34.99. Knowing how much these normally are I quickly ordered them and was told they were on backorder and would be shipped to me when they were available. For that price, I would wait as long as it took to get them! I finally got them early February and they are worth the wait. I have used them everyday since receiving them and I wonder how I did without them. I wish I'd ordered my mother a set at the same time I ordered my set.
I've had this set for approximately 10 years. The spatulas are still going strong and working well. I've got several pieces of Le Creuset cookware, and these soft silicone utensils have helped keep them looking like new. Highly recommended!
After reading all of the rave reviews of this product, I decided to purchase one as a gift. It arrived this afternoon and I have to say that while the product does match the description provided, I was pretty disappointed that I spent [money] + shipping for this. My first impression was that the crock was smaller than I had expected, however even with all of the spatulas in it, there's plenty of room for other kitchen tools. A medium sized wire whisk and a couple of wooden spoons will fit in nicely. The blue crock is a nice dark bluish-grey color. I haven't tested them, but the spatulas have stickers on them claiming heat resistance up to 800 degrees. I can't imagine what anyone would cook that would reach these kinds of temperatures, but I guess it's nice to know that if you accidentally leave the spatula resting on a hot burner it won't melt right way. From the product description, I was having a hard time justifying the price of this product, but everyone that reviewed them seemed to just adore them, so I thought perhaps the picture and product description were not doing justice and I was simply underestimating these potentially wondrous kitchen tools. I do a lot of cooking and if I had bought this for myself, I would be sending it back. I feel there are a lot better things to spend [money] on. It seems to me that the entire Le Creuset line is pretty over-priced, so with respect to their other products, it appears this one is par for their course. The product description tells it all. Once the dust settles, what we have here are 6 rubber spatulas and a colored stoneware crock - nothing more. If this is worth [money] to you, then you will be getting your money's worth.
