I started with the original screwpull, then Rabbit, then vertical rabbit. This is by far the best construction, heaviest, easiest to use

I love lever type screw pull wine openers and classically thought, spend the money and get quality. Not in this case. I've had two. Both have broke within a year of use. The first time, a plastic piece on the inside broke. Not fixable. I replaced with a new one. The second time, the screw quit properly penetrating the cork, and started shoving it into the bottle causing big messes. I do not recommend this for even close to its price.

...at least it is in my opinion. The opener is VERY heavy and takes up a lot of drawer space if that's where you plan to store it. It will stand on your counter, but is a bit top heavy. I've never had any type of wine opener that does the job as easily as this one. It is a "must have" for a serious wine drinker. Far superior to the "wing" and "rabbit ears" type.

This piece is beautiful. I have one for myself and bought one for a friends birthday. It makes opening the bottle a breeze. Really clean. People want to know what it is and when you show them, they're like, this is awesome!

Well....I have mixed feelings about this. I have used a lot of leverpull-type corkscrews over the years. When they work, they are wonderful, both because of the ease of removing the cork and the ease of ejecting it after removal. This will do all those things and for the most part works.

One problem these high-end leverpulls have as a group, though, is that while they are rather pricey for corkscrews, they are not very durable, especially when encountering a difficult cork. (Buy the ones with some metal!) You are as likely to break the leverpull as the cork. I imagine that this vertical design was meant to deal with the durability issue to some extent. At least I hope so--because there is really no other reason to buy one. Its vertical design looks cool and makes it easy to stick on a table without a base, but it doesn't make it more efficient in its primary task. Using this is far more awkward than the "wing-styled" leverpulls. It is harder to hold tight and still while operating the lever, which in turn will affect your ability to get a good grip on the cork and extract it properly, as opposed to breaking it. (I have normal sized hands--if you have small ones or difficulty in grip, you may have even more problems.)

Another important issue that should not be overlooked is that you can't actually see what you're doing as you extract the cork. With this vertical design, the cork becomes generally hidden from view as it is extracted--unlike with the wing-style corkscrews. Don't underestimate the importance of this issue. That means if you have an older bottle with a delicate or defective cork, you're pretty likely to shatter the cork before you even realize anything is actually wrong since you can't see that the cork is coming out incorrectly (or not at all).

Love this product. Our previous one lasted a good 6-7 years, without once changing a part. It finally broke after MANY a wine screws... If we lived anywhere else but Haiti I would have tried to have it fixed. So buying a new one was the quickest way to a solution. Hope it lasts as long.
