Each piece from our extensive range of high-quality enameled cast iron cookware is designed for ease and versatility of use, fitting in with all styles of cooking, all types of cooking appliances and any style of kitchen or dining decor. Please read this section before using your cookware for the first time. The information it contains will help you achieve the best possible cooking results.

Enameled cast iron is a remarkable and robust material that performs well with modern requirements for food preparation and cooking. Whether you choose to stir-fry, slow-cook a casserole, sear a steak or bake a cake, there is a shape that is suitable. Cast iron performs well for either slow cooking or high-temperature searing.

Cast iron can be used reliably on any heat source, including induction, and with any oven or grill. It has the ability to retain heat efficiently, which allows for use of lower heat settings in stovetop and oven cooking. On the table, a hot covered dish will keep food hot for second servings.

Cast iron can also be used to keep foods cold. A chilled dish becomes an ideal cold food server on a hot summer day. It can also be placed in the freezer for food storage or advanced food preparation

High heat temperatures should only be used for boiling water for vegetables or pasta, or for reducing the consistency of stocks or sauces. High heats should never be used to preheat a pan before lowering the heat for cooking. Cast iron retains heat so efficiently that overheating will cause food to burn or stick.

The vitreous enamel surface is impermeable and therefore ideal for raw or cooked food storage, and for marinating with acidic ingredients such as wine.

I've collected a few Le Creuset pans in various sizes and colors.
The 2 quart french oven that I've had for years is used the most and I wanted another pan that was larger but not as large as my soup pot.
This one filled the bill perfectly. It has a flat bottom making it easier to use for roasting or browning than my soup pot. The sides are high enough to use it for stews, soups, rice or frying and I really like the Linen color.
The handles on this pot are larger than my older french oven so it's easier to get a good grip.
All in all, it's a very versatile size and shape. I expect to depend on it for many years.

Beautiful color! Cleans like a dream. I didn't want a huge, heavy pot and this fits the bill perfectly. Perfect size for our small family.

I own the Le Creuset Wide Dutch Oven in two sizes -- the 6-3/4 qt and the 3-1/2 qt featured here. Although I really love the larger pot for creating large batches of soup in the winter, I have to say I am surprised by how much I grab this small dutch oven on a weekly basis. It's small size means that it's lightweight, comparatively speaking - making it easy to heft in & out of the sink for a quick cleanup, which is ridiculously easy, by the way. A quick swipe with some hot water and a little dish soap, and it looks brand new. The shape is conducive to braising, sautéing - just about anything, really. Great for spaghetti sauce. I've brought it to the table as casserole dish for 4-6 servings. The fact that it's cast iron means it retains heat and the food stays warmer longer out of the oven. Add to this that it's beautiful, and you have a perfect pot! Considering the price of most Le Creuset pieces, this one's a steal at $149. I may need another color.

I have one since my marriage 30+ years ago, it is still being used almost daily and it is still looking perfect. Cooks great, try a roast beef or a full chicken or a ratatouille. I just bought one as a marriage present, sure that it will be a lasting one.

If you're wondering whether this oven is worth the price, the short answer is yes. There is not another dutch oven out there that cooks food as perfectly as this one does and it is constructed to last. It's a magnificent piece of cookware. This is a smaller size so it's more appropriate for weeknight meals and/or meals that feed 1 or 2 people. It's also good for boiling pasta due to its width.

I've had mine a year and a half. Just did looked at my order history and saw I didn't review this yet.

I absolutely love it, and use it almost daily. I do roasts, chicken, stews, and rice dishes on top of the stove and also in the oven. The best feature of this dutch oven is that you can use it on the stove or in the oven. Last weekend I made Mexican rice for 30 people. It was simple and came out perfectly. The pot lovely for serving too. It keeps the food very warm.

I've always wanted a Le Creuset dish, but they are both expensive and heavy and that held me back. I was reading lots of recipes that needed a dutch oven - something that can go on top of the stove as well as within the oven, with a good sealed lid, and decided to give myself a Christmas present I really wanted. So we got it. We've already used it twice, it works just as well as I expected and it cleans like a dream. This is the mid sized one, the big one really would be too heavy for me, but this, although by no means light, is manageable, and can easily hold a meal for 4 people (though probably not 8) I ordered the red, and it's cheerful color looks great on my stove even when not in use.

Excellent Dutch oven for slow cooking and it cleans up easily.. I considered purchasing the larger 5-5+1/2 quart, but glad I chose this one - being cast iron it is heavy and the larger capacity choice would have been heavier. I've used it mostly for braising then transferring into the oven - made excellent pot roasts and also a pork chop dish. The cooks on Americas Test Kitchen (PBS) use these Le Creuset pots frequently, now I know why!
