Délicieux !

Just got back from France and didn't see this product when I was in Arles, near the Camargue. Later, in Nice, it was served at a restaurant (Vin Sur Vin -- recommended) with my grilled bass. It added such wonderful flavor to the fish, and to the accompanying vegetables. I had no time to go looking for some there, so I'm thrilled to be able to order it on Amazon. There is a really special taste and texture to it. The container on my table even had the signature of the man who had gathered the crystals. It would make a wonderful gift to dinner hosts.

The best salt there is.....

We bought this salt in the south of France where it is available in every supermarket. It is crunchy and delicious. It has been consistently rated as the number one gourmet salt. Sprinkle on anything and your meal will be transformed. Yum!

Addicting as MSG!

This salt is very fine -more powdery compared to other rough sea salts. This makes it so that when you cook, you might not have to sprinkle (or grind) it in as early, and you can throw some uncooked without grittiness. And it is so good. How can you describe salt? Salty? You'll have to try for yourself, but it is very fresh tasting, and sprinkle it on the worst cooked food, and it will still be edible because this fleur de sel is of such high quality. After eating any dish with this salt, it makes me seriously crave more of food in general with this salt, like what MSG does, but without the thirsty, dizzying effects of an MSG laden meal.

The top sticker is even signed by the salt harvester, making it more personalized if you're looking to send a gift for someone. And, for those who are curious, it is not stored in very thick packaging. Just some light cardboard feeling material as the base and a lightweight lid similar to that of a wine cork.

Note: this Carmague fleur de sel is essentially the uppermost layer of the bed of sea salts laid out to dry under the French sun, and is the most clear. If you're just looking to go buying French salts in general, this isn't going to look like some Britanny sea salts which can be wet, dark grey, or light grey, but instead will be dry, fine, and whitest of white.

I love this salt

I found this salt at local high-end grocery stores and loved it. It is the best finishing salt I have found, and I've tried many.

Then the local stores stopped carrying it - so I found it on Amazon, ordered five containers. It was cheaper on Amazon than the local stores.

I gave it to foodie friends as a holiday gift - and they loved me for it!!

The order was delivered when specified, in great condition - everything I expected.

Camargue Salt

This is a very fine salty salt - strong, toothsome, and delicious. Don't use it for cooking - that's a waste - use it a a 'finishing' salt - sprinkle over your food just before eating (and remember to reduce the salt used in cooking) - I particularly love it on freshly cut tomatoes. This is a luxury item for me, and I wouldn't be without it!

Great salt!

This is my first purchase of fleur de sel, and I love it. I use fleur de sel for finishing. This is not salt that you should mix in to a cake or as part of a recipe. It's delicate flavor profile will be lost. I sprinkle it on at the end of cooking - on top of steamed veggies, on top of a steak, on top of a salad with homemade vinaigrette. This salt is not cheap (considering the price of kosher salt and the extra premium paid for shipping for this stuff), but it's something I look forward to using and tasting every time I pull it out of the cabinet.

Perfect for candy making

I wouldn't say this is my favorite salt or even my favorite flur de sel as their are many. It is a quality product and great value though. The crystals are a little small and lack the crunch of some other flur de sel's I've tried. Definitely worth keeping in the collection though.
