Improved sleep and comfort for this pregnant gal,

I was a little hesitant about purchasing this product regarding a few of the issues some reviews mentioned (price, quality, seam, size), but now that I have used it I am incredibly glad I bought it. I am 6 months pregnant, 5'7'' and have a fairly slender build and sleep on a queen size bed with my husband.
Here are the things I love about this pillow: 1. My overall sleep time has increased and deep sleep has improved. I think this is because the pillow hugs all around my body and I can roll over without adjusting 4 pillows. Now I don't even have to move the pillow, it is already where it needs to be. 2. Before pregnancy I always slept on my back and the switch to side sleeping has been incredibly difficult. This pillow has helped me feel comfortable on my side as well as offer kind of an in-between back and side position. Also, it has kept me from rolling on my back naturally while I sleep, which has been most helpful. 3. There are many positions to use this pillow as well as many positions you can assume with each pillow position. It also supports a growing belly very nicely. 4. I personally find the pillow stuffing to be pleasantly soft yet supportive at the same time. 5. This pillow is great for mid afternoon rests and short breaks. 6. Though it is a bit bulky it takes up only my half of the bed (queensize). My husband has not been annoyed or cramped because of it. In fact he often snuggles up against it in the night. Cons: (minor ones at that) 1. A little pricey. But what price would you pay for a better, less miserable night of sleep. 2. Slightly rough pillowcase. 3. Less snuggle time through the night with hubby, but we can still be pretty close. This pillow has fit my needs very well and has been worth the money. **As an update. June 2008. This pillow has really helped me post partum. Nursing has been easier, it is very comforting to snuggle in when I'm feeling a little blue, and my body aches have been reduced thanks to it's many support positions. I personally feel that I would not have been very comfortable without this pillow especially the last 2 months of pregnancy. I have one additional complaint about it. the pillow case became quite nubby and even more rough in some spots (mostly the area that my feet and legs occupied).

Too thick, to short, and uncomfortable. I had a different body pillow before that I loved, but didn't want to spend $100 on a new one, so I got the cheapy based on these recommendations, I used it once and I HATE IT.
1. OVER filled so you are propped up in weird places (your head is high, and legs are high, while your center is drooping down). 2. Cover does not go back on once it is washed it is HORRIBLE. It is cut so there are larger and smaller parts on the cover, my husband and I both could not get this thing back on. 3. the curve at the neck base is sharp so you either have to have your arm over the top so you can rest your head on it or you have to scoot way down so it doesn't cut into your shoulders. 4. Base is too thick to support your belly 5. Fluffing or flattening the pillow doesn't work, it is stuffed to the max 5. I am 5'3 and it comes to the top of my knees on one side and if it is cutting into my shoulder in the top it will come to my lower back. 6. To keep your whole hip/let supported you need to have your legs really bent as shown the pictures. 7. It doesn't fold up or lay neatly anywhere 8. Not breathable SPEND THE EXTRA $40 AND BUY THE COMFORT U WITH FIBER FILL, IT BREATHS, IS ADJUSTABLE WITH THE THICKNESS IN AREAS, AND IS LONG ENOUGHT TO COVER YOUR WHOLE BODY. FOLDS IN 2 SO THAT YOU CAN PLACE IT UNDER YOUR PILLOWS WITH YOU MAKE YOUR BED..... I WISH I WOULD HAVE STUCK WITH THAT...

I am currently six months pregnant and having trouble getting comfortable at night. After reading the rave reviews, I purchased this pillow thinking it would be so great for me. I was disappointed when I tried it. Here's why:
1. Getting the cover on and off to wash is a real pain. 2. The curved part digs into my shoulder and really hurts. I've tried to stretch the cover and shove another pillow there to help but the seam just really cuts into me. 3. It is absolutely HUGE and heavy. Since I cannot really use it as intended because of the shoulder problem, I flipped it upside down so I can use it as a regular body pillow. This is OK but the end of the pillow hangs off the bed and is heavy when I try to flip over with it. I toss and turn a lot so this creates a problem. 4. This pillow makes me so hot I wake up drenched in sweat. I would recommend something smaller and more manageable. I don't feel that this has helped me sleep better at all. I will keep trying different positions with it to see if I can make it work since I did pay a lot for it. I can't really return it since we've already used it and washed the cover. :-(

I bought this pillow after reading all the positive reviews here. I saw the few negative reviews, but decided to disregard them. Big mistake! This product is completely awful.
I am 6.5 months pregnant and was having a lot of trouble sleeping. I was using three pillows and trying to steal my husband's, too. The three pillows weren't bad, they helped, but every time I rolled over I had to readjust all of them. I thought this body pillow would help that, and I wouldn't wake up so much when I had to turn over. It didn't work. Here's why: 1 - The fabric covering this pillow is just vile. It's a sort of sticky-feeling polyester that doesn't breathe at all and feels horrible against my skin. I just couldn't stand it. I tried wrapping the pillow up in a sheet to get it away from me, but that didn't help because there were so many other issues with it. 2 - It's sewn into a very tight U-shape - there is little flexibility. It was too close to the sides of my body (I am not a large person), and there was no way to push it away. That also made it too hot. I tried putting the pillow in every position possible, and I did read the instructions, but nothing helped. It just wasn't comfortable. 3 - It made my shoulders hurt. When you are on your side, there is nowhere for your bottom arm to go but under the pillow. But the pillow is heavy, and your head is also on the pillow, so that arm gets crushed and my shoulder ended up hurting within just a minute or two. I tried flipping the thing around so my head wasn't on it, I tried adding other pillows, I tried everything. Still uncomfortable. I tried this pillow for three nights, and no matter what I did, it only made me more frustrated and uncomfortable. I ended up kicking it out of the bed every time and have now gone back to my three pillows. I really wish I had just bought a regular body pillow for $15.00. I wasted my money on this stupid thing. Maybe the people who like this pillow are not picky sleepers. I have always had difficulty sleeping and get uncomfortable easily. Also, I sleep on a relatively firm mattress. Maybe this is the reason this pillow didn't work for me. I think if you are picky about comfort or generally don't sleep that well, this is not the pillow for you.

Whenever we go away for a weekend and she doesn't have this with her, she complains of aches and pains. Whenever she uses this, she doesn't complain. I'm sure you could arrange a few pillows to produce a similar effect, but this is so much easier as it won't keep sliding around on you during the night.

Must have!!!,
By Jen M. (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Leachco All Nighter - Total Body Pillow - Ivory (Baby Product)
I bought this pillow during my 4 month and it has been a lifesaver. I do not wake up with any backaches or any other part of my body aching. If it wasn't for having to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I would be able to sleep straight through. My only complaint is that if you are a little more on the smaller side, this thing can overwhelm you and it takes up a lot of space in the bed. But I've managed to figure out a way to have it work with my smaller body frame. This is definitely a must have and well worth the price if you are having trouble getting comfortable and sleeping well.

Finally Comfortable!,
This review is from: Leachco All Nighter - Total Body Pillow - Ivory (Baby Product)
I got this pillow when I was 5 1/2 months pregnant with my second. I hesitated at the price tag when I had my first, thinking I could get by with more economical solutions... wrong!
Sleeping with this pillow was the first time I was comfortable in bed in months! It didn't guarantee that I actually was able to sleep, but I was so much more comfortable. I liked that it was all connected - I just used this ONE pillow for my head, back, belly, and knees. Towards the end, I also used the belly wedge for added support. After my son was born, I used it to support my back during the side-lie nursing in bed. My husband called it "The Barricade." We have a Queen, and it definitely took up a major part of the bed. But I needed it so badly, I didn't care and he conceded! I agree with the reviewer that mentioned how the pillow didn't withstand the use over time. Parts of it got pretty flattened. It was easy enough to use an additional pillow for support, but for the pricetag, I think they could have created a pillow that retained its' fluff for more than 5 months. Nevertheless, I was satisfied and would recommend getting an actual pregnancy pillow like this one as opposed to using several individual pillows (and having to reposition throughout the night).

stomach sleeper with bad circulation,

I did a LOT of research on preg pillows in preparation for my 2nd pregnancy. No one mentioned being a tummy sleeper or having poor circulation (and having a preference for flat pillows) so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best with this pillow. So far I am very pleased with it. It can be manouvered into just about any position - many of the problems people discussed can be fixed if you just play around with it (wrap it tighter around you or push it away). I don't even find the cover scratchy!? As someone who just WON'T fall asleep if I'm not comfortable, I am pleased with this pillow.

The Leacho All-Nighter I purchased never made it to under the tree! When I was checking it prior to wrapping, my Husband came in and caught me with it and wanted to try it out. VOILA!! Since an accident 6 yrs ago thats rendered him disabled, he has only slept on a loveseat where his nighttime motion is limited. It's amazing what this Leacho Pillow has done for him in just a month! He tried it one night, then another....etc.etc.!! Has had much better sleep and has been in the BED every night, awaking without the unbearable pain he was having prior to using the body pillow. He has even made a rack of PVC pipe to hang it on during the daytime hrs.
Proving that it isn't just for pregnancy, & has brought remarkable relief to to extreme back/sciatica distress! B.L.Thiessens 12-29-09

Great pillow for pregnancy,
By
This review is from: Leachco All Nighter - Total Body Pillow - Ivory (Baby Product)
I bought this pillow when I was only 10 weeks along in my pregnancy. I am now at 33 weeks, and I've only spent one (miserable) night without this pillow over the past 23 weeks.
I was a little worried when I read the reviews before buying. Some people mention that the head piece cuts into their shoulders. I solved this by simply putting a regular pillow over that area, and it doesn't bother me at all. The covers are a little hard to put back on, but my husband was able to do so on several occasions without problems. The comfort that I get out of this pillow greatly outweighs any possible negative sides. As I've come along with my pregnancy, the pillow provides a lot of support for my back and belly at the same time, allowing me to actually get a good night's sleep. I found it more than worth the money for what get out of this pillow. It's a great buy and highly recommended. |
