This text provides a solid understanding of the principles of authentic leadership utilizing an assessment format along with key information to assist the reader to identify what it takes to become a truly authentic leader. It offers sound, practical advice from which all people can benefit to some degree. This text also helps the reader reflect upon their own personal leadership style and offers keen insights to make the reader a better leader using the "11 steps of authenticity" detailed in the various chapters. This is an especially good book for any new leader just developing a personal leadership style in that it will help raise self-awareness to help the new leader obtain the necessary skills to lead with authenticity.

As an aspiring authentic leader, I highly recommend Dr. Ostwald's book, Lead with Authenticity. Authentic leadership training is hard to come by, but Ostwald perfectly balances the cliché of leading from your strengths against recognizing and accounting for your weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

No one can read this book and not learn something new. It is rooted in theory, backed with years of experience, and packed with practical applications. This book will make an immediate impact on your views and perceptions of what leadership is, and your co-workers will thank you for Leading with Authenticity.

As a practitioner in leadership development and someone who has trained many co-workers and interns over the years, I have found this book an excellent and most useful resource for training and developing leaders, as well as personally beneficial. The book is not only easy to read and use, but it comes with discussion questions at the end of each section, which can be used for discussion and interaction in the leadership development process with one's colleagues. I most highly recommend this resource.
