3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting viewpoint from an employee's angle on leadership in the workplace
It is some food for thought. Typically we focus on the executive's advice on how to lead, but rarely do we take the time to understand it from the employee's side. The author points out key factors in establishing credibility and success as a leader. As a manager, I'm not sure this will fly, but it is food for thought all the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unique perspective to a challenging workplace, November 29, 2010
Wendy Duncan has truly embraced and exposed workplace trials and tribulations. Not only has she provided an insightful light to the current workplace landscape, but she has also introduced actionable tools that I can't wait to try. She gets straight to the heart of what is broken in today's workplace environment and identifies key areas that can be fixed. As an employee and manager, striving to be a leader, I am inspired by Lead Employees to Success and will use this book as a reference tool that will definitely not get dusty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intuitive, yet revolutionary look at management!, October 13, 2010
Duncan has really outdone herself. As a professional I have found myself on all sides of this paradigm; that of the employee, middle management, and business owner. Her vantage point comes from the employee and is a great representation of how misinterpreted managers can become in their employees' eyes if the person does not see themselves as a leader and move from that angle. She portrays these different types of management in a semi-"tongue and cheek" light offering a very non-fictional satire of how traditionally bad middle management is seen. If you are an employee looking to connect with a fellow employee and just have a good, wholesome laugh, or an aspiring management professional looking to up his/her game in the corporate world, read this book. It's both entertaining and educational.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leading Employees to Success is a great book to improve workplace relationships, October 6, 2010
Duncan's book is written from the employee's perspective and is intended to give insight to the managers of today what makes for effective communication with their employees. Using several methods, Duncan elaborates which means of communication is most effective when dealing with different types of employee personality types. It goes deep into relationship and trust building and how to build effective teams. It is a must for every manager who wants to do better him/herself by developing a team that supports him/her effectively. I know many employees who are going to slip this underneath the door to their boss' office.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Promising Pete to Micro-Mary, November 18, 2010
I really enjoyed reading this book! The author infused humor and great examples of potential employee/manager relationship dysfunctions that occur in the workplace. From "Promising Pete" to "Micro-Mary", I could relate to every type of boss. Sound advice for aspiring managers is incorporated as well. I recommend this book for first-line employees, managers with direct reports, and executives/directors with the desire to create positive change in the work environment.

5.0 out of 5 stars The guidebook to a successful workplace, November 15, 2010
I just finished reading Lead Employees to Success. I have been in medical sales for almost ten years and during that time I have experienced the many different types of managers that are mentioned in this book. The author did a great job of explaining things from an employee point of view. I believe that this book will help me when I step into a management role someday. I bought an additional copy and sent it to my VP of sales and I hope he will choose to buy additional copies for all the managers in our company. There are some very good ideas in this book which I hope to see implemented in my company.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Read" for Employees and Employers Alike, November 11, 2010
"Lead Employees to Success" is a refreshing book that looks at management styles from the viewpoint of the employee.

Employees will enjoy the light hearted analysis of the many management styles and lack therof in the workplace. They will have fun matching their current and prior bosses with the many described in the book. Employees will find comfort in realizing they are not alone in dealing with ineffective management.

This is a "must read" for all managers. Hopefully, some will awaken to their lack of effectiveness and will become more aware of their employees' perception of themselves. If managers could change their ways they would be pleasantly surprised with the increased job satisfaction for their staff as well as for themselves. Duncan illustrates how developing trust and cooperation between managers and employees is the first step towards bringing success to an organization.

Just finished reading the book and found it interesting to get an employees point of view on managerial/employee relationships. The book demonstrates the importance of having good communication and respect between managers and their employees in the workplace. It's well written from the author's experiences.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wendy Duncan's book review, November 8, 2010
This book was great to read for I have been an employee that has been mis treated in the work setting and can definitely relate to many of the situations she is talking about. It was inspirational to read for learning how to deal with adverse personalities in the work setting. I think managers of all types should read this for it can change the work place to achieving improved productivity that can often times suffer with ineffective leadership and dysfunction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be the change you wish to see in the workplace, November 8, 2010
I like the author's mantra, "Be the change you wish to see in the workplace."

Despite the economic downturn, companies need to start realizing they should forego the burn and churn method of yesteryear and evolve like Zappos and other fortune 5 companies who realize motivating and treating their employees with respect will get them further in reaching and exceeding their goals. Her "Just Ask" method is commonly brilliant and cheeky, but to the point.

Create solid working relationships through effective communication and you will increase production.
