Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

President Ronald Reagan’s world-changing power as a leader came not from flexing his political muscle but from an authentic consistency of both thought and action that personified humility, loyalty, and respect.

—From the Preface

Lead Like Reagan reveals what exceptional leadership looks like at the highest levels of power and influence, explores why it is effective, and explains how it can be emulated and implemented. Drawing on the author’s personal experience working in The Office of Ronald Reagan, the book includes inspiring quotes, speeches, and compelling stories of excellent leadership from the “Great Communicator” himself, as well as from prominent business leaders and CEOs.

Throughout the book, successful business owner, entrepreneur, and former Reagan aide, Dan Quiggle, shows how top leaders inspire, motivate and set ambitious, yet attainable, goals, which enhance effectiveness, impact, and results. Lead Like Reagan outlines specific leadership traits and maxims which can be implemented immediately for greater personal growth and increased professional achievement. Quiggle illustrates the essential interpersonal qualities that make a difference between simply making a product and making an impact, between providing a service and providing an exceptional customer experience, between just living a life and leaving a lasting legacy.

With experienced wisdom, candor, and the savvy voice of an insider, Lead Like Reagan outlines seven ways to increase leadership excellence—how to create a vision, assemble a team, communicate a message, lead by example, take action, handle crisis, and, ultimately, change the world by leaving a positive and lasting legacy.

By using Ronald Reagan’s proven principles and following the examples of other successful leaders, anyone can learn to positively and tangibly affect performance, interpersonal relationships, and overall corporate culture.

Whether leading a nonprofit organization, small business, Fortune 500 company, or a family, Lead Like Reagan offers the guidance and inspiration necessary to become an exceptional leader, affect positive change, inspire those around you, and ultimately leave a lasting legacy of leadership excellence.

A wonderful book by a man who was with President Reagan in his post-Presidency. There are a lot of parallels with political leadership and business success. Mr. Quiggle's book points them out vividly in that he used the Presidents leadership skills to start and build some great companies. A wonderful read. Although I have read other books written about Reagan, this one is unique in that it analizes Reagan's leadership stragtegies so that the reader, whether the head of a family or a large corporation, can achieve leadership excellence. Dan Quiggle has helped me create a vision, set goals and timelines for action and accomplishment as a real estate agent, a civic leader and as a grandmother. This book about "The Great Communicator" is a must read for parents and teachers, as well as our country's leaders, especialy as it deals with motivating and communicating. I learned so much about Reagan who inspiered optimism; but also how I could be a better person. Dan Quiggle quoted Reagan as saying, "We Americans have never been pessimists. We conquer fear with faith, and we overwhelm threats and hardship with courage, work, opportunity and freedom." This quote is a great comfort to me when I read the daily newspaper or view on TV the nightly bad news. Thank you Dan Quiggle.
