Very dynamic leadership book,

This review is from: The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills (PSI Successful Business Library) (Paperback)
This has got to be one of the most comprehensive and concise leadership books available. Its treatment of leadership and management skills (a distinction it makes throughout the book) is easily understood, lacking of theory overload, and made for the person who needs it: the everyday supervisor and manager in either the profit or nonprofit sectors (I am in government). This book will make a strong impression on you and its contents will be with you always. Highly recommend it.

It's direct, full of info, and easy to implement.

Our company has been successfully using this book in its management development classes this year. The book provides thorough overviews and detailed advice on the relevant issues and skills facing supervisors and team members today --- it doesn't discuss everything under the realm of leadership because you can't discuss everything in one book. It precisely points you in the right directions, because success at management depends ultimately upon ourselves. If you're looking for a smart and practical approach to leadership and teamwork, this is it.

I can not say enough good things about The Leader's Guide. The author Ponder examines such leadership responsibilities as problem solving, communication, teamwork, project management and conflict resolution. It takes a lot for a book to impress me and this one does. Top executives, supervisors and beginning managers will all find this guide helpful. It's easy to read, the core message essential and everything in it reprsents the foundation of sound leadership. Ponder's work has the potential of making exceptional leaders out of the ordinary, teaching individuals how to best apply their individual talents to build optimum performance organizations. A handy reference that belongs on every executive's bookshelf. For that matter, I think students and parents alike would easily benefit from reading the material as it provides a breadth of useful information. Order it with confidence and be assured that it will deliver. Definitely an A1 investment.

Great guide to Leadership,
By Sherry Rollins (Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills (PSI Successful Business Library) (Paperback)
This is one of the most enlightening books on leadership that I have read recently. I particularly enjoyed the straightforward, no-nonsense, and thorough approach used. Not only are a multitude of skills covered (15), the book frames them within the context of doing what's best everyday for your team members and organization, and doing these right things with a great attitude - filled with integrity and purpose. I believe this book is worth the investment, because you will gain so much in return. I encourage new and seasoned managers alike to read it. S. Rollins, Project Manager

We have enjoyed this excellent book and my company is using it for our new leadership development program for several reasons. It addresses the subjects our managers need to hear: communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, strategy, etc.. We need practical advice; this book delivers well. It also is easy to understand and implement. The step-by-step approach to each of the skills is one that is made to last and works well with our diverse supervisors, who are at many levels of expertise. They like it, so they will use it. Finally, the price is superb and doesn't involve a huge investment on our part when compared to the benefits we receive. Highly recommend this superb guide to management and leadership.

This is one of the best books on leadership I have ever read. The author shows you how easy it is to learn the 15 skills necessary to lead people and manage organizations. There is little theory here, just the practical advise and training we need as supervisors. All corporations should distribute copies to your managers, and all aspiring successful leaders should buy this book---it is a deal!!

The book offers excellent insight into what I feel to be a difficult subject to fully address: leadership and management. While it is truly impossible to explain all aspects of supervision in one book, I recommend this book.It clearly offers a unique and real-world approach to grappling with the issues faced by supervisors. The skills discussed in the book are invaluable, and if the reader applies the concepts and suggestions, he or she will benefit greatly.

Exciting layout of what we need to here,
By Kim Masters (Philadelphia, U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills (PSI Successful Business Library) (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed The Leader's Guide because it was so straightforward, easily presented, and thorough in the 15 skills needed by a manager. It is different than most books because it accepts the many theories on leadership, but doesn't address each of them individually. It simply gives the reader the relevant info that is needed today on the job.The author's credentials as a consultant, manager, and Army officer go far in my mind in accepting this book as one of the best in explaining what a new manager, experienced manager, or team member needs to know. Strongly recommend it. |
