Editorial Reviews

Review

"I plan to continue using the Daft text. I have evaluated several other leadership textbooks, and consider Daft to be head and shoulders above the others. I recommend it to colleagues when the opportunity arises. I have had excellent feedback from both lecture and online students concerning 3E and 4E." - William Russell Brown, Navarro College

"This is a superb introductory textbook. I recommend that the students retain it as a reference throughout their program of studies." - Glenn K Cunningham, Duquesne University

"I have found this text to be the most well written of the traditional Leadership textbooks. Students have often told me they like the text for this reason (and typically students do not make such complementary comments about a textbook)." - Joseph Martelli, University of Findlay

"Students have a wealth of information in each chapter coming at them from different directions and in different formats. I particularly like the Leadership Bookshelf and Consider This box segments. As self-learning professionals, several of my students have commented that they have gone online and purchased books discussed in the Leadership Bookshelf boxes to augment their leadership libraries." - Shand H. Stringham, Duquesne University --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

This review is from: The Leadership Experience (Paperback)
I'm using this book for a graduate course. It is very readable and has lots of interesting side articles included. The many evaluations it provides provide a quick way to see new perspectives on your leadership style. It provides a broad view of leadership theories, styles, followership, culture, etc. I have taken another graduate course that uses Dr. Daft's Management book. There are many overlapping topics between the two books as expected. There is also a website associated with the book which has some good resources including PowerPoint slides. My only complaint is the price seems high for a non-hardbound book.

Of course I did not choose this book for elective reading but it arrived in excellent condition and the delivery was very prompt. Daft has written his book so that it is very easy to read.
