This daily devotional provides the essence of many of Dr. Maxwell's lessons. As the introduction states, the book is designed to connect one with God and provide daily leadership thoughts. It does just that by connecting biblical principles with a short, thought provoking narrative on how those principles can be applied to everyday leadership. This is a faith based book appropriate for all faiths, but it is also very meaningful and relevant outside of the biblical content. If you've owned other devotionals, but sometimes find yourself reading them out of a sense of obligation, this book will be a refreshing change. You will read and re-read its passages. It's also a great book for those wishing to distill Dr. Maxwell's teachings into bite-sized lessons, and is appropriate for all types of leaders (business, family, community, etc.). The lessons presented are simple, but not simplistic.

I was given this book by my wife and children for my birthday. What a wonderful gift!! I have never had a daily devotional before this book, but always loved reading books on leadership. This book is a wonderful blend of leadership wisdom and the spiritualness we sometimes lack in our daily dealings with those we interact with. It has given me a wonderful start to my day. I then share the daily lesson with my family, friends and coworkers. A must have on your desk or in your briefcase.

I have this book on hard cover and it is, as so many others have written, one of the most outstanding books in my library. However, when I bought the version for Kindle on iPad I found that the electronic version lacks the months and days that accompany the meditations. Maybe it works fine on Kindle by Amazon. But on my iPad it is virtually useless.

The daily guide contains good pointers on Leadership from a biblical perspective. As with Maxwell items the points tend to be quite good. I find that the daily reminders could have been a bit longer but it is probably a function of the target audience. The book itself is well presented aesthetically. Overall a great buy that I would recommend.

Okay, it seems most bargain books are being blown out for a reason, they're not selling. However, I have never found any John C. Maxwell book that is not worth its weight in gold. A person serving in any leadership capacity will certainly benefit from John C. Maxwell's work. He has sold over 5 million books of dozens of titles. Each work is filled with clear, simple practical strategies sure to help you and those around you in your every day lives. This book does just that. I've read all the gurus on effective living and leading, and in my mind John C. Maxwell is as good as it gets. Pick up one book and you will see why he is sure to propel you, your family, your organization, your team forward in a very positive direction

Each daily entry is a pithy, thought-provoking insight into becoming a respected, valued, and life-changing leader.

After one year of reading the daily entries and now starting on a second year, I can highly recommend this book for those who really want to lead from the heart and who can understand that a real leader is a servant to his or her team. If you don't want to change yourself, your perspectives, or your methods of leadership, don't bother with this book. It is for those who value personal growth and enrichment for leader and followers, despite personal sacrifices by the leader to model the necessary maturity.

I ran across allot of John Maxwell's work while doing resreach in graudate school. I have found his insight and advice inspiring and helpful. Leadership Promises is no different. This is a must have daily meditation for anyone striving to lead and achieve spiritual balance.

I bought both the hardback version and the leather bound version (1 for me and 1 as a gift).

A leader is not necessarily someone who has a position of high authority or who has hundred or thousands under his influence. Everyone can and should be a leader in some form or fashion, whether it is in the home with the family, in the workplace or at school while displaying God's testimony through your life, or in the church through our ministry, official or not. So, while this book is designed to be written for leaders, it applies to pretty much everyone.

I received this item in the middle of February, and the first day I had it, I read almost back to the beginning of the year. The book has superb insight regarding leadership examples in Scripture. Maxwell begins each day with a passage of Scripture from either the OT or NT and points out the leadership example displayed within. He takes from his previous writings on leadership to expound upon the leadership ideal found in the passage. As a seminary student, hoping to lead spiritually, a military officer, a husband and future father, I found this book to be a superb tool in helping me find my potential in leadership through God's gifts and His Word.

Binding and pages:
I was very pleased with the stout nature of the binding of both the leather bound and hardback versions. Both appear to be very durable and expertly bound. The pages are thick (again durable) and the layout is very beautifully done. Each page has a watermark on it with an inspirational image at the beginning of each month. Both editions have a ribbon bookmark.

I highly recommend this book to all people as we all have our times where we lead. This book will help us prepare for that time.

Buy two copies...one for you and one for a friend, family member or leader you know. Everyone benifits from simple, daily insights into leadership.
