This is a good text book that unfortunately has a problem with the way it is made. After the first couple of weeks the book started to separate and the glue job appears to be substandard.

I take care of my books (sell some back, keep the others) I would have liked to keep this one but the publisher did a lousy job.

I wrote the publisher with my complaints and they have not bothered to respond.

Dont buy this book unless you have to.

I'll keep this short and simple as possible.

The content of this book is good. It's been a pleasant surprise to read through compared to other management and leadership textbooks that I've used in my degree program. The self-assessment exercises are good, and have raised my awareness of how I go about managing and leading. I think that's the point of the book, right?

The thing I don't like about this electronic addition is that almost every chapter has a page which reads "Text not available due to copyright restrictions". This is a great example of what is wrong with the textbook publishing industry here in the United States. Forget the fact that I paid $150 for the electronic version while the textbook publishers incurred zero extra expenses in preparing, printing, shipping and selling me the book. My problem is that I'm purchasing a copyrighted work from a publisher who cannot acquire the rights to all the materials they're indeed trying to print within this book. I suppose it would be too much to expect Cengage Publishing to take a little less icing on top of their cake and purchase the rights to reproduce and sell a complete product. It's a complete joke.

I purchased this as a digital book for my Kindle for PC. I thought it would be less expensive and easier to carry around than the hardcopy. Little did I know that some of the Cases in the book are not available due to copyright issues. This is a big issue for me because I had to use the book for a class and the case we were to analyze was not available for me read. When I purchase a book I expect all the content.

This book is very informative and easy to read. It offers good examples to help you grasp different concepts instead of leaving you scratching your head wondering what you just read. I would recommend this. This was required reading for my class and it is a good textbook but is a easy and interesting read for anybody wanting some insight into being a good leader.

Although it is difficult to start reading this book and at times the style seems too dry but I have not seen a book on leadership on which an author would have put so much work from every aspect you look, namely research investigation, advice on how to practically check many of your own leadership aspects, how to train yourself or your group to be better at some things. I found so many points that would have been invaluable in my as a manager's career if I had known them earlier. Every word you read, makes your sure that it is not an empty and try statement but everything is based on a real experience and real research on companies because the author lets us know who has done this research and on how many companies. I have bought around 10 more books on this subject but I can tell you that no book could compare with this one.

One minus I found in this book that examples and cases are not very interesting and clear.

Despite of this I think it is one of the TOP leadership books of our times.

I ordered ISBN 978-1133435228 but was sent ISBN 978-113343529. The chapters matched up for the first three but now I am screwed because the chapters are completely different. I have never had a problem ordering through Amazon third party sellers but this one is ridiculous! Crazydealss refuses to refund or exchange because I am past their 15 day return policy and they claim they informed me that it was a different book than what I ordered.
I am very unhappy with their customer service but have filed Amazon's A to Z guarantee so maybe I can get my money back.
The worst part? The book they sent is worth about $34.00 on Amazon but I paid $105 for the book I was promised! Now I have to reorder because I can't wait and the price has gone up about $40!!

Leadership: Research Findings, Practice, and Skills I had to buy this textbook for my Graduate program. I must say that my major is in Leadership so I have read many leadership books. This book, however, is one of my favorites. The book is easy to read, uses real-world scenarios as examples, and has a great section in the back of each chapter for the vocabulary words. The chapters were not excessive in length. However, my favorite part of the textbook has to be at the end of each chapter. There are great case studies to reinforce the material being taught. There are discussion questions and skill-building exercises that do not require a lot of time to complete but do provide more information adding to that chapter. A great read and a textbook I foresee myself reviewing over and over.
Regards,
~ Holley Jacobs
