Bob Yandian does a fantastic job of explaining the essence of what made David such a great king. This little book is built on the 131st Psalm and the significance it engendered in David's leadership. This book explains in detail: David the sheppard boy, David the servant of Saul, David the commander of the armies of Israel, David the pursuer of the heart of the Almighty God, and David a king of kings. This book reveals David's faults, failures and short comings and explains in explicit detail how David humbly learned from these mistakes and became the metric for all the kings of Israel after him. My favorite passage in the book is when Brother Yandian points out David's understanding that he was "just a sheppard boy with a crown", and how his utter dependence and loyalty to the Lord God was paramount in his life, thus enabling God to use him as mightily as He did. If you are wanting to improve your leadership skills, become a better wife/husband, parent, or friend then read this book. It's life changing.
