Learning about The Leadership Spectrum,
By
This review is from: The Leadership Spectrum: Six Business Priorities That Get Results (Hardcover)
Mary Lippitt's book provides a new model for understanding the successes and failure points in leadership performance. It focuses on the way leaders achieve results, but also gives insights into how different values and mindsets influence opportunities to lead within each phase of an organization's lifecycle. The book provides both a theoretical model and practical guidelines on ways to improve leadership and outcomes. I recommend it to students of organizations, people who want to enhance their leadership capabilities, and consultants.

Dr. Lippitt provides a new and comprehensive approach to building effective leadership regardless of the size or development stage of an organization. Practical, anecdotal guidelines describe the critical roles and priorities of successful leadership teams. Dr. Lippitt demonstrates that effective leadership teams recognize the needs of an organization as it grows and matures. Practical examples and discussions focus on a complete framework of leadership priorities such as innovation, structure, goal orientation, and competency building which are necessary for organizational success. This valuable book provides no-nonsense questions and realistic strategies to follow for molding organizational life cycles with critical team and leadership priorities.

This review is from: The Leadership Spectrum: Six Business Priorities That Get Results (Hardcover)
Dr. Lippitt offers a rich, yet practical, framework for a complex subject. If you're looking for fresh ideas on cultivating leadership flexibility, building influence, and achieving results, then this book needs to be part of your library. Instead of focusing on identifying the "right" leadership style or competencies, Dr. Lippitt makes the case for analyzing and understanding the priorities and needs of your team and organization and aligning your leadership priorities with them to achieve success. The best part is that she offers practical strategies for making that alignment a reality.

This review is from: The Leadership Spectrum: Six Business Priorities That Get Results (Hardcover)
Mary Lippitt's book offers a new perspective on the relationship between leadership performance and business results. Dr. Lippitt's brilliance moves well beyond the theoretical and offers readers a clear and compelling invitation to think 'differently' about 'difference' among individual leadership styles and strengths in any organization. Dr. Lippitt has developed a simple model to understand and then leverage individual differences and strengths among available leadership talent and then aligning these differences and strengths with the needs of the task at hand. Then, and perhaps most important, providing effective leadership to those individuals, teams and organizations charged with delivering the desired result. Each chapter includes an executive summary which provides a quick learning review and practical suggestions for how to immediately apply the learning. In addition to being a great read, this book is an invaluable reference that savvy leaders will want nearby when thinking strategically, making key business decisions and maximizing the probability of achieving or exceeding desired results.
