Book Description

September 26, 2003
Everyone knows the phrase, "Nice guys finish last." In the case of R. Clayton McWhorter, nothing could be further from the truth.

In an era characterized by accounting scandals and questionable ethics, R. Clayton McWhorter has carved a legacy of deep integrity, dynamic leadership, and notable successes. His rags-to-riches story embodies the fulfillment of the American dream.

In Leadership to Win, author Bob Vraciu presents a compelling biography that begins with the stark conditions of McWhorter's early life in Georgia, then chronicles his insider role in the development of health-care industry giants HealthTrust, Inc. and HCA. The second half of the book highlights the best of Clayton McWhorter's business management practices, providing practical wisdom and insight for any executive wishing to enhance his or her leadership skills.

While his achievements are based on sound business principles, in the end it is McWhorter's commitment to making a difference in people's lives and giving back to the community that has sealed his enduring success. His amazing story will capture your interest and leave you with a lasting appreciation for a truly good man . . . who finished first.
