This is a compilation of cases without all those irritating questions prompting you to think about things the way the editors want you to think. I think the editing is very good and really distills the questions and holdings well.

For that portion of criminal procedure which is grounded in constitutional rights (which is a great deal of it), this casebook is fantastic. It's not one's typical casebook: there are virtually no endnotes, no discussions of academic literature on these subjects, just the relevant sections of cases that provide the basic law that all states are bound by with respect to the rights of criminal suspects and defendants. For most classes, that would be too little of the picture, but for Criminal Procedure it works. The cases are edited well: you get the facts and the rules of law, as well as the policy discussions underlying them, along with selected concurrences and dissents. Occasionally, there will be endnotes after a case providing a short summary of one or two more cases that extend or clarify the rule. The book is organized by topic, so it's not as though it's just a bunch of cases. You'll have to pull the rules of law from the cases as you prepare for an exam, but you pretty much have to do that in every class anyway. It's extremely straight forward, so if your professor picked this book, you'll know you have at least one class this semester where reading for class won't be too tedious.

This casebook was a required text for my criminal procedure class. The book is nothing more than a reprint of cases that could be found on Westlaw or Lexis Nexis. There are no notes accompanying any of the cases or anything else to add to the opinions themselves. Additionally, many of the books that my classmates received were missing entire sections. Obviously you are at the mercy of the professor assigning the material, but don't expect to fall in love with this casebook.

The book was in excellent condition and arrived timely as promised. The book is well organized and you can easily find the cases when you are looking for them.
