Editorial Reviews

Review

‘This is a good introductory book regarding the particulars of managing projects in a global environment. The writing is not overly academic, it engages the reader, and contains essential elements for the developing project manager to consider. […] It is ideally suited for project management majors and international business/global studies majors.’ - David G. Duby, Associate Professor, Liberty University, USA

Format: Hardcover
Great information on international leadership. I particularly appreciated the clear summary of the 7 realities of Global Project Leadership. Because I am a technical leader with over 15 years of international experience now living in Brazil, the last one was particularly relevant and is very true, ie `no matter how brilliant you are technically, your effectiveness as leader depends on what are referred to as 'soft'skills.' In my experience, many people think they have these this skill in particular mastered, but in reality, only a very few really do.

I have known Bob personally for many years and have benefited greatly from his mentoring. He made me a better global leader. As a practioner of global technical leadership in the private sector, I strongly recommend this book.

This book contains a tremendous amount of straightforward and valuable information that can be applied directly by anyone managing international projects. The content pertaining to culture ("how we do things here") succinctly grasps the essence of the subject, with many useful insights and guidelines. Similarly, the project parts provide clear concepts and their application, focusing squarely on value-added. Both are woven together effectively and use real world examples and illustrations.

As a practitioner, I find this to be a very valuable resource.

I really liked the 'imperatives'format. The ideas and lessons you need to keep in mind.
It's a marvellous reference book to have on your desk.
