About the Author

Thomas Fowler-Finn is the founder of Instructional Rounds Plus, working internationally as a facilitator of instructional rounds, instructional leadership practices and networks, and strategic planning. He is a former superintendent of the Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, public schools.

As a teacher, principal, and superintendent of suburban and rural school districts, Tom has earned numerous state and national honors by focusing on achieving equity of student opportunity and performance. These honors include recognition for outstanding leadership by the International Centre for Leadership in Education and by the Wallace Foundation. In Tom's final tenure as superintendent, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts lauded the commitment to academic progress for every child in the Cambridge Public Schools and exceptional improvements in student performance. Tom is a staunch supporter of public education and access to quality education for the least fortunate having depended upon federal assistance as a child himself. Outside of education, Tom enjoys gardening and travel with his wife and three adult children.
