Book Description

November 9, 2007 The Undefended Leader
In this second volume of his 'Undefended Leader' trilogy, Simon Walker looks at the ‘ecology’ of power and defines eight signature power strategies. Each strategy is illustrated by a case study of how it was implemented by a significant social leader to meet the particular challenges of the their time, leaders including Lincoln, Roosevelt, Reagan, Mandela...

Walker notes that the use of weakness often proved to be more powerful than the use of strength. He concludes with practical guidelines for developing an effective, personal leadership signature for today. Information is included on The Leadership Community and how to access The Leadership Signatures(TM) diagnostic profiling tool.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“Simon Walker has encapsulated so many of the hard lessons I have had to learn and areas to which I still aspire in my leadership in the Christian world. This book is written for a wider readership than those in Christian ministry. The principles are solidly ethical (and biblical).” Patrick Johnstone, WEC International

5.0 out of 5 stars A Second Success from Simon!, July 15, 2008
This review is from: Leading with Nothing to Lose: Training in the Exercise of Power (The Undefended Leader) (Pt. 2) (Paperback)
Leading with Nothing to Lose is the second book in the undefended leader trilogy. This book is more hands-on then the first one and introduces the reader to a system of different leadership techniques and when to use them. Simon Walker introduces each technique with a story of a leader who used it a lot, which really helps in understanding what they can achieve and what sort of environment to use them in.

This book is full of useful strategies and advice on how to lead effectively and `undefended.' It is well written and an enjoyable read, full of diagrams and analogies to illustrate his points. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going into any kind of leadership role but read `Leading out of Who You Are' first.
