Book Description

June 15, 2005 1596222387 978-1596222380
Inside the Minds provides readers with proven business intelligence from C-Level executives (Chairman, CEO, CFO, CMO, Partner) from the world’s most respected companies nationwide, rather than third-party accounts from unknown authors and analysts. Each chapter is comparable to an essay/thought leadership piece and is a future-oriented look at where an industry, profession or topic is headed and the most important issues for the future. Through an exhaustive selection process, each author was hand-picked by the Inside the Minds editorial board to author a chapter for this book. Chapters Include: Rodney Nelsestuen, AgriBank, FCB – “How Business Relationships Determine Technological Efficacy”; R. Blake Young, Dynegy, Inc. – “The Importance of Communication in Technology”; Tom Beauchamp, Hot Topic – “The Role of a CTO in the Retail Industry”; Bill Howard, Sun Microsystems – “The Key to CIO Success”; Thor Geir Ramleth, Bechtel Group, Inc. – “The Art of Being a CIO”; James E. Burdiss, Smurfit Stone Container Corporation – “Developing a Partnership Between IT and the Business Functions”; Stephen S. Brown, Carlson Companies – “Strategies for Success”; Filippo Passerini, Proctor & Gamble – “Making an Impact as a CIO”; Mike McClaskey, Perot Systems Corporation – “A People Business”; George Chappelle, H.J. Heinz – “Building and Working with a Strong Team”; Marc West, H&R Block – “Determining Technology Essentials”; Jeffery Carl Almoney, The Reynolds and Reynolds Company – “The Transformation of Automotive Retail.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Another "Inside the Minds" Winner, April 27, 2007
This review is from: Leading a Technology Team: CTOs & CIOs from Sun Microsystems, Proctor & Gamble, and More on Developing Successful Partnerships Between IT and Business Functions (Inside the Minds) (Paperback)
Reading this book not only provided me with a new perspective on the people leading me, but also provided me with a powerful reference for explaining my issues to them to make our cooperative work more effective. Also, it has provided me with a foundation on which to build my movement towards becoming a technical leader as a VP/Head of Development, CTO or CIO.

Once again, this peer into the thoughts and thought processes of leading technology leaders has provided me with a wonderful substitution for actually having the experience myself. Concrete examples, compelling statements/arguments, etc. make this and the others in its series valuable from "worker bee" to CEO.

The repetition in this series of publications also helps drive-home some concrete principals for successful growth and building of a technical foundation.
