5.0 out of 5 stars Rubinek puts you in the middle of the action
A group of men are haunted by a past misdeed. When thier group starts to die off in mysterious ways they think they know who dunnit and they want him stopped. They petition Nero Wolfe to save the day. Before it's all over, a woman gets the best of Archie. Honest!

2.0 out of 5 stars Wolfe out of his depth
This is the second Wolfe, and Stout is supposed to have considered it his best. I can't agree. Although Chapin is certainly a deeper character study than these books normally attempt, the psychology is unconvincing. The pure mystery part of the plot is very weak. An interesting curiousity for fans, but out-of-step with the core appeal of the series.

I have been a Rex Stout - Nero Wolf fan for years and just started rebuilding
my CD collection. The only spare time I have to read is when I'm driving and I'm a little tired of the radio.

Nero Wolf stories can be viewed as a mystery story, interplay between the characters Nero, Archie, Fritz, and a cast of caracters, and more receintly,
I've been viewing as a snap shot in time and if you listen carefully, political view points of the era. Nero and Archie live (and didn't age) from the 30's
to the 60's.

THE LEAGUE OF FRIGHTENED MEN - is a bazaar tale of events years after a Harvard hazing accident. I'm not going to give away the plot, but this is one of the more diablcal tells from Rex Stout. I guarentee your not going to know who did it before the last CD.

Rubinek is an very good choice for Archie, and he does the other characters well too. One of the best of the books in a good performance.
