5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Reading Activities for your Child/Nino, January 4, 2006
This review is from: Leamos! 101 Ideas Para Ayudar a Sus Hijos a Que Aprendan a Leer Y A Escribir: Let's Read! 101 Ideas to Help Your Child Learn to Read and Write (Paperback)
This bilingual book has 101 ideas for helping a child learn to read and write. With Spanish and English text on facing pages, use whichever is most comfortable for you.
*Keep a diary with your child. Take five or ten minutes at the end of each day to talk about and write down important or fun things that happened. This activity keeps communication open and is a wonderful keepsake of the growing-up years.
*Invent a pleasant dream before bedtime. Tell your dream to your child and listen to his.
*Rather than allow your child to channel-surf, read together through the television guide. As you talk about various shows and what would be interesting to watch, you are teaching him to be selective.
*Help your child write a fan letter to a favorite television star.
*Slip a message into your child's lunchbox or backpack. It's a chance to say "I love you" but it shows your child that writing is a way for people to communicate their thoughts and feelings. To add an extra bit of fun, work out a code or write backwards. Maybe you will find a secret message from your child waiting for you some day.
Take a little extra time to reinforce the concept that learning is fun. Your child will thrive in school while you build a warm parent-child relationship.
