More About the Author

Aneesh Suneja is the president and founder of FlowOne Lean Consulting LLC, based just outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a Chemical Engineer, and holds an MBA from Marquette University.

Aneesh started his career with PPG Industries, and earned a Six Sigma Black Belt through the Whirlpool Corporation in 1998. He began his study of Lean at the University of Michigan's Center for Professional Development. His first Lean project was in the coatings industry where he demonstrated the power of Lean by eliminating more than $1 million in inventory costs.

Aneesh has been a Lean practitioner and advocate for more than a decade, and has applied Lean principles and tools in various industries including online auctions, insurance claims processing, yacht manufacturing, and research & development.

For the past 5 years his focus has been exclusively on healthcare, and he has transformed practice areas in the outpatient setting as well as operating rooms, intensive care units, cardiac care units, emergency departments and inpatient settings.

He wrote Lean Doctors with his wife, Carolyn, who has an extensive background in Lean, organizational development and training. They live in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, with their three daughters--Jaya, Mya and Emma--and their two dogs, Tex and Romeo.

Perhaps the most important value of the book is that it makes LEAN accessible to the health care manager / provider who typically thinks in terms of events not process. LEAN DOCTORS distills Lean concepts and principles into practical steps that will "work" in the health care setting. If your looking for a very good MAP that will provide direction to increased patient flow, and staff and customer satisfaction this is a must read - we are using it as the guide in our OR's and in a high volume outpatient clinic.

This book is an excellent resource for those in a healthcare setting contemplating or implementing lean principles in an outpatient clinic. We are using this book as a resource in a project we are doing in a high volume (70k visits per year) clinic. The book was very useful as it provided both a framework and overview of the "what" and "how" we are trying to accomplish to both our physicians and staff.

We have been working on implementing these lean principals into our clinic for the past 5 months. It has 1) been a great avenue for us to actually talk about and bring to light the issues that exist 2) help us find practical, applicable solutions 3) incorporate these solutions into our clinic in an efficient and smooth manner. I would highly recommend this book to ANY health care provider. It gives you a fresh set of eyes when looking at how things are done, and provides the skills and the means to actually see changes through.

Following the guidelines in Mr. Suneja's book has helped our clinic put order to chaos. It helped us develop a more professional environment which improved not only patient but employee satisfaction. By engaging the staff in the development of the process, their buy-in is inevitable and sustainable. I would suggest this book to all clinic administrators looking to improve their clinic professionalism and patient through put.
