Over the years I have written a number of diet book reviews ... I am happy to say that LEAN FOR LIFE is the last diet book I will need to review. LEAN FOR LIFE WORKS and I don't need to read anymore diet books!
The book "Lean For Life" has since been updated and retitled. It's now called "Lean For Life Phase One" and is available ... and at leanforlife.com. I would advise purchasing the new version instead of shelling out the extra money for an out of print copy of the original Lean for Life.
Lean for Life Phase One is a book that you do. Each day you are given step by step directions to follow to mentally and physically achieve your weight loss goals.
The program begins with a "prep" period where you buy the items you need for the diet and prepare yourself mentally.
The next 3 days are protein days. You select protein choices from a given list. I was shocked to find that it was easy. I ate cheese, yogurt, drank milk, protein bars, nibbled on chicken, eggs and more.
This is followed by a period where you add vegetables, grains and fruit from a list. The program is designed to get your body in a state of ketosis so you do not experience cravings, mood problems etc. AND IT WORKS!
On previous programs I had cravings for sweets and could not stick with the plan. But with LFL your cravings (if any) are very manageable and you eat so you are not hungry!
Each day adds in new mental concepts to work on to learn to become LEAN FOR LIFE. Exercise is also included - how much to do and when to do it for best effect.
After a cycle of weight loss you go into a period of metabolic adjustment adding in yet more food. Then you can repeat the cycle of weight loss if you need to lose more or you can go on to the carefully designed maintenance plan.

This book is awesome! I received a copy at my job when "Lean for Life" was introduced as an "At Work Program". I found the book to be an easy read. It provides a motivational tip for Day 1 through 30 of the program, with each day representing a separate chapter. As a busy person, I have very little spare time available. Yet this book has made it extremely simple for me to complete. In fact, the information is so positive I have begun reading the book a second time. 33 pounds later, I have ordered a half dozen more copies to provide to family and friends who are looking for the same success I have had on the program. At work, in my department alone there are at least five others who have the book, with amazing results ranging from average loses of 15 to 25 pounds. In the majority of cases, the weight was lost within two months on the program. I truly mean it when I say, this book is a gold mine!

I started this diet the day after christmas and I've lost 14 pounds so far. That's about 2 pounds a week which is a healthy rate and I haven't even followed the diet to the letter. I've got 15 pounds to go, so I should be in great shape by summer. I've had lots of energy and I'm never hungry or cranky. You basically just have to cut out sugar, bread, pasta, rice, & potatoes. The book is motivational and takes you through your weight loss step by step. If you really want to lose weight try this book.

I started this program after seeing the success of my sister(reviewer from MA). I have been 14 weeks thus far and lost 43 pounds. I have struggled to lose all my life and now can hardly believe I have only less than 25 to goal!!! This is a wonderful program. I am committeed for life!! My 15 year son is on the children's version and has lost 11 of the hoped for 16 in 4 weeks. I highly recommend this program for anyone!!!

This book offers a diet that is truly a practical lifestyle change! I could not believe my success! 40 pounds in 10 weeks (less than the average)! I was not hungry, felt great, and lost weight. All the explanations are in the book and because you keep track of your activity, food, measurements, etc... it is very easy to see why you are or are not successful. FYI the only products I actually ordered and used from this company were the protein bars. You can be successful on NORMAL FOODS!! Good luck!

I cannot even start to describe how wonderful it feel to look at myself in the mirror and see a new me..... After struggling for years to lose weight, I finally found my answers on April 2001 when my husband's best friend introduced me to the Lindora Diet. He had lost 85 Ibs in 10 months and I was truly amazed. I ordered the book and started the diet on April 7, 2001. The first week I lost 10 Ibs. I never felt better in my whole life. As of today, January 9, 2002, I am now 145 Ibs for 68 inches. I have lost altogether 80 Ibs and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT !.
Nothing comes easy but Lean for Life is worth a try.

I am so thankful for this journal. I have always been a skeptic of anything that seemed far fetched, but as I read each chapter I could see the common sense in the advice. I gave it a shot and was very very pleased to lose 15 pounds in the 28-day cycle. Who can't commit to 28-days? There is nothing to lose, but fat. I went from a size 13 to a 10 in those 4 weeks! My husband and I did this together and it was fun holding each other accountable throughout each day. He started at 202 pounds and is now an attractive 180. We both feel more sexy and defunetly more confident. I just got to a point where I was totally disgusted with my body/self when I looked in the mirror. Now I am buying THE LOW CARB COOKBOOK by Mc Cullough and the CARB COUNTER so that I can modify my own favorite recipes. I hope it is as good as the reviews say. One other comment about LEAN FOR LIFE is that I really appreciated it's balance with important nutrients. You are required to eat 3 fruits and 2 veggies per day. This of course increases carb's, but as you can tell we lost weight with no problem. Our immune systems feel boosted because of this! Give it a try- you won't regret it.
