GREAT ALBUM,

Is Mark Humphreys living in a beach house in Malibu he purchased with the money from the sales of this magnificent album? He should be. Why Eddie Money is living the high life and Mark Humphreys is living in squalor, I don't know. Alright, I don't know if Mark lives in squalor or not, but he should be famous. These are great songs. And he performs them with such life and energy. He is a terrific story teller. Listen to his song "Spike Jones". "Rain and the Rock and the Palm of her Hand" is as catchy a song as you're likely to hear anywhere. And "Bible in the Dresser" could have been written by Louden Wainwright III, except this is funnier. This is intelligent songwriting. The lyrics are smart and witty, and the music is sharp and catchy. It's good to know that the craft of good songwriting is still alive.

This is some of the very strangest music i've heard in a long time. While the music itself is not bad and i do enjoy listening the message of Mark's music is unclear. One assumes that it is religious music but only God knows what Mark's message is. For example in the last track, "Tide Pool" the apparent message that he is stuck in a tide poor but it's ok because eventually he will make it home. You really have to hear the music to believe it. Overall Leap Day isn't bad and i would recommend it to anyone who doesn't listen to lyrics, or who enjoys being throughly confused. I've heard the songs several times and i still don't understand the message. Enjoy
